This Needs To Stop!

"I personally believe it started when the company began blaming the customers (and the fares they pay)for its troubles. From that point on, the upgrade list supplied to crews onboard became a target roster."

Just as an FYI. most flight attendants know nothing from the list other than your name and level of FF. US1/2/3/4. They can not tell what you paid or how you paid or not to upgrade from the list. It has your name, FF level and conx gate info, if any, and thats it. It doesnt say "Cheap fare" or "Freebie" on the list... :p

As for the rest of the story and the way the planes look, I've made my opinion known.

IT IS ASHAME THAT IT CAME DOWN TO BLAMING OUR PAX. IF WE EVER GET A REAL LIVE MGMT TEAM TO TURN THINGS AROUND AND RETURN OUR MONEY STOLEN FROM US THE EMPLOYEES, I JUST WONDER HOW MANY PAX WOULD COME BACK?

I am truly sorrow that our passengers are bearing the brunt of our cutbacks. A clean plane is essential for our livelihood. I clean planes at my station and have noticed horrible conditions on our 737's, ranging from warn carpet, side carpet paneling shredding, overheads with tape, etc.

I think we do a good job at my station despite having 3 hours to unload, clean our mainline flight and security inspect. And, not to mention, we have to stop to work 2 RJ's and unload and clean within this same 3 hour period. And there is only 3 of us. Occasionally, we get a complaint from one of the originating flight attendants in the morning. But we are doing the best we can do.

I suggest they recall some utility workers in our larger stations. At least our aircraft could get a good cleaning at some point during the week.

Last week my PHL-MHT flight went out over an hour and a half late because the captain demanded a different aircraft because the one we had smelled so bad!! The crew before had complained about the smell too!
Good work Dave!!
Who needs 3rd shift cleaners anyway!

I have seen some of these planes myself--and as a loyal US1, I am embarrassed as well. It's inexcusable. They want to charge a premium price for an inferior product (employees excepted).

If it were not for the fine people who work for US, I would be long gone. I am trying to make a difference by constantly speaking with my friends in CA--they seem to know the deal but their reports fall on deaf ears.

I just had to postpone a trip to the CLT area because the fares were ridiculous for last minute travel--$1100+. In fairness, DL's were higher, but they just don't get it. Perhaps when the LCC's get a hold of CLT it will change, but it should change much sooner--come on BBB do something PRO active instead of RE active.

It's almost funny that I was told by someone high in management that if they could raise bottom fares by only $20, they could lower the high end by $300. SO DO IT ALREADY. And at least offer a product which deserves a premium price.

Maybe once they figure out what they want to be we'll get somewhere.

Until then, my best to my good friends at US!

... which they can't. Very few people are willing to pay $20 more just to fly USAir. You have to provide a better product to even have a chance at charging more.

AA planes are just as bad, so I wouldn't expect US to do anything about it right away. Solution? Don't fly airlines with dirty planes. Then US and AA will get it, and they will clean their aircraft more than once a week.

JS,

They COULD raise the bottom by $20 if they had a differentiation in product. Unfortunately, some of the LCC products are actually BETTER than US.

I have said all along, let Ma and Pa Priceline go for that $20. Most of us business travelers would pay a REASONABLE premium for premium service.

It all depends on who they want more--the once a year whiner or the 5 segment a week US1.

I am totally shocked by all of this. I was wondering which type A/C it was because I always hated the 737/300-400 because they were such an embarrassment on the inside. But, considering this pax was going to LAX I can't imagine a 757 or even an airbus would have been so filthy.

From my little bit of experience I can say it would help if the passengers would give a little respect to the aircraft themselves..IE Please stop letting your children write on the seats( yep I actually had to ask this of a F/C pax) a brand new airplane and the Passengers were the ones wreaking it. Guess that would clairify the manifest of who paid what..... Mr US1 keeps to himself and does his work vs US4 upgrade that wants the F/A's to be their personal servants...I DONT THINK SO!!

Betcha' "THEIR" Houses dont smell or REEK OF DIRT>>
If I was a psgr I'd go to the MEDIA>>

What a crock!

Dump Dave BEFORE WE HAVE ZERO LEFT

For what it's worth, NW aircraft are cleaned quite thoroughly every night, regardless of where they R.O.N. Our problem is that after the originating segment, due to cleaner cutbacks in the hubs, they aren't cleaned very well until they again overnight. I spoke with the regional director for my area about this, and no one off the front line seems to concerned about it ("it's an area we've decided we can cut back on," was his quote.). Sounds like the condoning of an inferior product isn't just a Red Tail thing......What a shame.

Just my $.02

I agree with that.

No, that won't work. You have to get the same (or very close) number of leisure travelers at the $20 increase in order to charge $300 less to the business traveler.

If you drop the leisure travelers and give away the store to the business traveler, revenue plummets.

No, no, no, they have to have both! The only airline that truly caters to business travelers is MidWest Airlines. US is far too large to be able to shrink to YX's size and still survive.

Maybe we can UCT into that. Air Alabama, Air Pennsylvania, Air Carolina......lots of little carriers each with their own focus, management and costs associated with it....wait a minute, we're doing that already. Nevermind.

Just curious why "Doit" or "Hawk" havent bothered to respond to what CCY is planning to do to clean up the planes? Too busy beating up on the help?

Whats the plan to clean up our act?
