Well, I just sent three applications out to Temple for various positions I was interested in that were posted on the new internal application system on theHub. I've had two years of front-line experience working in PHL which will always be invaulable, including a boat load of business experience from my day job. It would be one big move, but I'm still young and have wanted to work on the corporate side in the airline industry ever since I was a kid.

Hopefully they'll realize how passionate I am about this business as well as the company, and will call me soon. Keep your fingers crossed!

Good Luck Jonnyd. I think you'll like Arizona. Traffic sucks, but I'm sure your use to traffic jams in Philly. Go knock'em dead!

JohnnyD, I have only been here 2 days and I must say I am *Thrilled* to be here. You will also enjoy it.. the atmosphere in PHX is so much better than in other parts of the country, and the city is quite pretty (especially downtown).

good luck!

Never been a fan of PHX, couldn't see myself living there but in any event johnnyd I wish you all the best.

I think I'll stay here and help keep the Jersey shore nice and tacky.

That's one thing I will definitley miss! I spend most of my free time in the summer in Ocean City. I'm hearing so many positives coming from out in PHX, so I'm very excited about the possibility of being able to go out there and do something I love. Thanks for the good wishes!

WOOHOO!!! Good luck with the apps. Phoenix is a fun place to live. (Just make sure you have good a/c in your car, cold beer at home and a pool helps with it too! lol.)

Well johnnyd if you get the job do PM me and stop by for an adult beverage or 7. I have a pretty extensive inventory. Currently I have

43 - Varieties of Belgian Beers
2 - Dutch Genevers
10 - Single Barrel or small batch Bourbons
4 - Irish Whisky
1 - Tanqueray Gin
1 - Tequilla
4 - Single malt Scotches

If you like Bud I can't help you as we are in a "Bud Free Zone". Friends don't let friends drink Bud, Miller or Coors.

All kidding aside the offer is real.

Thanks for the offer! No offense to the Bud drinkers, but that just is not my type of beer. I will take you up on a couple of those of the Belgian variety though!

I havent heard back yet from the company, which is good because if you are not in the running they will tell you right away by e-mail. I think with internal candidates they let you know either way. Hopefully Ill hear something next week, and if I do move, I will definitley be looking for an apartment complex with a pool! :D

its a little too cold to swim -- I was hoping for the same during my move, as we swim year round in EYW... for some reason I just assumed that PHX had warm year round climate... doh!

I am now finding myself running to the nearest store and getting cold weather clothing!

Btw, almost every decent apartment complex has a pool. I looked at a handful near work and only the cheapo's didn't have one, and they were in neighborhoods that I wouldn't quite wanna live in. I did end up settling on a place at 202 & Van Buren, just minutes from everything, and even found IKEA last night !!! :-D :-D

You should have no problem getting a job in PHX. There are plenty of people who would rather have the severence pay than move there.

Well, I just got back from my first trip to Phoenix, and I will have to say I am quite impressed. I was mostly up in the Scottsdale area, but made a visit down to Tempe and around downtown Phoenix. I was amazed how nice everyone was at the airport. Once the agents in the airport found out I was an East employee they all went out of their way to say hello as well as inquire about what really goes on in PHL. :D It was really quite a refreshing experience. I did have one heck of a time trying to get out though because of that Nascar race. I barely got on one of the red-eyes to get back to the east coast. I will definitely have no problem living around there, and after speaking with someone last week I'm hoping to get the call this week to come out for a face-to-face interview.

no, I bought a couple pairs of cargo pants and long sleeve shirts. When I left EYW, there were days where it would feel like 90 degrees, sometimes warmer. Actually during my last week of work, I took in an extra shirt because we were getting covered in sweat.
