Washington Times Article

I don't know why the previous thread on this was closed, but apparently the story seems to be backed up by the government. Including an incident on our own airline.
Are we being hush hush about this because we want to be PC and avoid getting sued again? Are crew members and passengers life more expendable than money?

Just things that make you go hmmmm....? I hate to be paranoid but somethings gotta be done and quick.

Stew, the previous thread was closed because the incident has been posted on about 15 different threads through the USAviation forums. Once is enough.

And, what would you suggest that we do? Deny boarding to anyone and everyone that we deem to be "Middle Eastern?" Thanks to the "rrecruiting efforts" of the current administration in Washington, Al Qaeda now has members from all over the world, not just the Middle East.

Before I was furloughed, I was working a flight out of LGA to DFW. About halfway through the flight, a woman came up to the first class galley and demanded that I do something about the "Arab who was reading some kind of manual with Arabic writing in coach." I went back to see. It was an Orthodox Jewish Rabbi reading his Hebrew Bible. It's a wonder that incident didn't make the papers as "We were scared to death by the terrorist and the flight attendant REFUSED to do anything about it."

Think about it for a minute. The Bush administration plans to make the "War on Terror" a major theme of the election campaign. If there was anything much to either of these incidents they would be on this like white on rice.

It serves a great purpose to be vigilant and always be on guard. To many pilots and flight attendants treat security like passengers. A nuisance to their rest and magazine reading time.

It can happen again and I suspect the next time will be a situation where they take control and force our government to shoot down a plane load of its own citizens. The fall out would be a great embarrassment to the government.

Lets take keep in mind is a different time and place. We cannot be turning our backs to the cabin, we cannot be opening the door without something and someone else blocking the way. We cannot take anything short of a voice and physical confirmation the area is indeed secure. We cannot take anything for granted. Its not just middle eastern men we need to be watching for. Its not just someone charging we should we concerned with.

The last El Al hijacking attempt was someone coming nicely up to ask for a glass of water. Then grabbing the flight attendant. Tim McVeigh was not someone you would expect. I hope that I am properly aware and vigilant. I will expect the unexpected and I hope you all will too.
