SWA just waiting to pounce

I'd like to thank WNrforlife for once again proving that he does not "live the Southwest Way".

I, and several others I know, have been blessed by excellent service from Frontier. Good People, Cool Concept. BK is just a really rough place to be in this economy.

I think the latest service announcements, and the NYTimes article pointed out that the target is really United. It'll be shedding something in a merger with USAirways, and SWA is making decisions while we have metal and money to do it. Denver is being a great market for us, and were showing the LUV by bringing more aircraft.

IMHO

Great point, it seems if someone makes a silly post then folks at other airlines swoop in and clump all of SWA in with that poster.

And to you furloughedPSA, again with your bitter posts about WN and degregulation. Its been explained to you many times that WN started BEFORE deregulation, HELLO?, lol. WN was able to adjust rather well to the deregulated airline industry, don't hate, *wink*.

You're entitled to your opinion, but you should know that Southwest was around several years before deregulation. And be careful what you wish for - reregulation may well result in the shrinkage of all the airlines (read that as job losses). And that would impact Southwest as much as anyone. Sadly, even if that were to occur, WNrforlife claims to be a long time employee of Southwest (I tend to doubt that, but that's another thread) - so he/she would not be impacted by shrinkage.

Yup, I'm a 4-digit dinosaur. Been around for 25+ years. Don't really need to work, but stick around because the job is so stinkin' easy for the pay. I'm just going to keep milking it as long as I can.

Frontier won't be around much longer - it's days are numbered. Mark my words.

Hope you've put much of your profit sharing into somewhat of a less volatile vehicle...I don't know if you've noticed yet, but LUV stock has been pretty stagnant for the past 8 years. It would be a shame to see your retirement fund become depleted when the stock starts to drop.

Don't get me wrong, I think SWA is a great company, but I realize that it's part of the AIRLINE industry, and I see oil trading at well over $100 a barrel...hedges don't last forever. Yep...SWA has made some very good decisions over the years, but if you think that the market conditions that forced Frontier into bankruptcy don't impact Southwest....well....you're a fool.

But...if your retirement were to drop from the low seven figures to a level that forces you to work ANOTHER 25 years, I know of at least 10 employees of other airlines who might be willing to fly down there and laugh in your face.
