Support and Encouragement for Employees Thread

The problem is that Southwest does not do a la carte pricing (unless you check 3 bags), nor do they plan to do so anytime soon (based on their advertising). And who is US Airways' biggest competitor at 2 of their 3 hubs and the largest domestic airline?

US tried to out class WN in the past and it failed catastrophically.

Thanks for a nice thread Shannon.

Yeah, even though it was the CCY regime, think about the GoFares project in PHL with Seth and the Hummer. Talk about NO class.

Hey, at least CCY had the ability to think outside the box and do something called "marketing". All Tempe does is sit on their hands and count their money.

We are being blasted by so much negativity right now, and gas prices and everything, that honestly, I find myself coming onto this site less and less because I'm just overwhelmed with negativity and discouragement.

Is it possible to have a thread where we are encouraging and positive? Is there anything for the employees to look forward to anymore?

I'm slowly and slowly no longer caring. where is the light at the end of the tunnel? If anyone sees it, point me that way. I think I'm about done.

Though I like the idea of a ''support and encouragement'' topic, its' a sad time when
we look for support instead of reading the truths' and the truth of the matter is the
times are not good.

I still help our customers but my disguist for the company's management I'm sure
bleeds through. Over 23 years ago I made .26 cents less an hour. Gas is no longer
under $2.00 and everything else has risen including the uppers salaries. The only
constant is US, ''the work force'' remaining stagnent.

So you have my support and hope that some time, maybe, just maybe we'll be OK

Thanks

My best regards and Luck to each and everyone of the fine US employees Good luck to all of you

My best wishes to all my friends I have made over the years at US Airways. Lots of undeserved turbulence in all our futures, I wish everyone safe travels. Hope it's not too hard to shine it on in the face of all this adversity, and a huge thank you for the great professional and largely unrewarded service.

I've decided to utilize my remaining US flights to try to boost the morale of the frontliners. It's the least I can do. Consider it my "farewell tour," if you will.
Just looked on UA's board...
looks like their mgt is using thug Mafia tactics....and escorting people off the property w/ pink slips...
Sad...
I would hope that our mgt is at least a bit nicer...

My God, the drama queenery here is thick.

Its not just US, its everyone.

The face of aviation is changed, and you all have to change with it.

Sorry, that is the truth.

The old models are out the door. No management could do what everyone here wants, the contracts, the planes, and the overhead are what they are.

Get used to it, old USAirways is gone, old America West is gone.

I'll still pay to fly, I'll still support the airline.

But, you all need to think like analysts, and not like pissed off employees.

Good luck.

Drama queenery? I just asked for some freaking reasons perhaps why NOT to be discouraged right now. You know what? I didn't get one.

Im sorry if that seems pathetic , but I like to think I'm usually positive and energetic, no matter what.

I don't even feel the need to defend or explain this thread, obviously it's not serving its purpose. If I were to retitle it, Id call it the 'US Airways Memorial Service" thread because we just got our asses kissed goodbye in a polite way a few times.

I like USAV because there's usually good information on here, but it's more of a breeding ground for whining and venting. I hope it's therapeutic for those doing it.

Statistically and senioritywise, this layoff won't affect me except that I like a few of the new hires we just got and I fear they won't make it.

Financially, I don't need this job. Not being a snob, I did what I could and when it didnt make ends meet, I started a business that would.

I adored it, I looked forward to coming in and no offense to the FFOCUS people or those thinking it's funny to count out pennies to blameless flight attendants but I feel like this airline rage/hostility is going to be taken out on me by frustrated passengers and it makes me melancholy about the whole thing.

Drama queenery? No. I'll be here till the ship sinks, I spent too long here to give up. I wont take out my frustrations on the passengers, even if they do act obnoxious and count pennies for $50 upgrade.

I counted pennies to feed myself and my daughter during rough times and we made it. if someone were to count pennies in front of me, I'd assume they really wanted what they were purchasing.

And if f**king three dollars or whatever it is for a coke pisses you off that badly, come see me and I'll get you one out of my locker. (dr. pepper)

You're all adults. Put your big kid panties on and get over it. We might make it.

I'm so over this site.

Shannon,
As for the doom and gloom, there isn't much we can do about the state of the industry and fuel prices.
I do, however, have to believe in our leadership. As much as I don't want to be the concession stand queen, I will and still have fun at my job.
Regardless of what is going on with the company, I insist on having fun while I am at work. I still try to provide good customer service, and keep a positive attitude.
There are those in this world that, if they won the lottery, would complain about how it has ruined their lives.
Good luck to all of us in this crazy industry!

I hope US makes it through the turbulent times ahead. I have spent 10 years here growing up and figuring out what life has to offer me. I couldn't take it anymore. I left this month. But for all my friends and co-workers who have more courage than me, Good Luck.

I remember a few years back, everyone thought we were done. Then all of a sudden, a merger is announced and we were brought back to life. I wouldn't be surprised to see that again. People were complaining and threatening to fly another carrier when we started charging for food. Well, they are still flying with us today. Don't count US out yet.

To all my friends: May you have happy skies ahead and the courage to stick it out. A voluntary furlough may be just what the doctor ordered here. Some time to clear your head and discover what else might be out there. Then come back refreshed 6 months later, just when unemployment runs out.

To all my passengers: It was a pleasure serving you throughout the years. Thanks for all the A & B's I have received. Stick with my friends and co-workers through this rough patch for just a little longer and see where it takes you.

Bah Bye!

I'm slowly and slowly no longer caring. I'm asking this from the non-bitter employees - I've heard enough from the jaded ones....and enough from those who don't work here....where is the light at the end of the tunnel? If anyone sees it, point me that way. I think I'm about done.
Shannon,

This is an opportunity for all of us to get out of our comfort zones and find another true love. It is out there and definitely within reach. With your upbeat personality, assertiveness, and resourcefulness, you will find something greater. Always surround yourself with Can-Do people and leave the rest in the dust. Brainstorm on paper. Make a Pros and Cons list. Start searching and talking to the right people. USAir has been good to me, and I choose to view it that way. Like many relationships that serve its purpose for a day, a week, or for years, USAir has served me well for a long time. I am grateful. I don't feel any negativity. I have chosen a new career path because my interest has shifted and it doesn't make sense for me to spend many more years flying--on many levels. You will find your way, and it will be an exciting journey. Good luck.

Shannon:
You asked "Where is the light at the end of the tunnel?" I wish I could answer that question. I know this is not the answer you want to hear but imo there is none. With the current management in place & the decisions they continue to make that is only making working conditions worse and driving away the very customers they need.
