Southwest clerks again reject contract
For the second time this year, Southwest Airlines stock clerks rejected a tentative agreement its union reached with the Dallas-based carrier.
On Monday, about 170 stock clerks represented by the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 19 voted 56 percent against the agreement that was reached Oct. 8.
"We reached a tentative agreement that delivered healthy wage increases to our hardworking stock clerks, even during this difficult economic time," said Mike Van de Ven, Southwest's chief operating officer. The stock clerks had rejected a tentative agreement in February.
