Why are these decals falling off the aircraft so soon. Would it have been better to put them behind the S in US Airways. There has just been much wasted money with this decal placement, wether it's US's money or the Star Alliance as I have heard may have paid. Not sure who paid just wasted money.

I have seen many of them chipping or peeling off, not smoothed out and even met a plane yesterday that had the entire outline of the sticker on it, but no Star Alliance logo or lettering, just the dark blue outline of the sticker. (Its an odd shape so I couldnt see it against the paint of the plane.) Not sure what is causing them to come off or look so shabby, but the good thing is up close you cant see them when boarding anyway because the door covers them when open. I would have thought that having them to the right of the entrance door would have been better so people could see them getting on the plane?

The paint is peeling, so why not the decals? Just makes them look uniform! Management doesn't care what the planes look like, so why should anybody else?

In real world it shouldn't matter if management cares or not the paint and decals should be taken care of by the ones responsible. That said in todays climate why should anyone else care.

That will never be done.

Your idea makes too much common sense as good brand marketing at no cost to the company (beyond the cost of installing the decal)!

All,

There is quite a bit of speculation that MAA and the ERJ170's will soon be spun off. Not one of those planes has a STAR alliance decal scheduled to go onto it.

The company reported Express planes would get the decals later this year.

decals don't belong on a surface thats cutting the airstream.
they should have asked me....

Look at the UA aircraft. It is the same spot as the US planes have it applied to. I don't see UA having problems, so the issue is either (1) US has a batch with some bad adhesive, (2) not enough cure time is alloted for the adhesive, or (3) there has been some shoddy work doing the decal application.

If anybody in managment had a brain they would have devised a stecil rather than a decal. We used to have the same problem with the placards on the Boeings until someone got wise and decided to stencil them on the aircraft.

Almost everyone has commented on the location of the decal on the aircraft, just does not make sense like most things at U......

U pilots fly faster... 😉

Perhaps they ran out of "Edge Seal" or didn't use it at all

Incorrect about the edge sealer....when replacing the decals there is no need to measure again as its easy to see the proper location of the decal do to the outline of edge sealer still on the fuselage.
