The AMFA card drives sure are picking up.
2 work groups at Spirit Airlines are seeking AMFA representation for their Mechanics and Maintenance Controllers. On the very recent heels of Horizon Mechanics overwhelmingly bringing in AMFA, Spirit Mechanics and Maintenance Controllers will seek the same.
I wish all the Spirit mechs and MC's good luck in their drive. If you guys have any questions or need to clear up any misinformation or confusion, please do not hesitate to ask here or any one of the other AMFA represented airline mechanics.
Below are the announcements as well as the NMB's investigation results of the vote at Horizon Airlines:

Press Release: AMFA Announces Card Drive for AMTs and Maintenance Controllers at Spirit Airlines
December 11, 2019 -- On the heels of having won its representational election at Horizon Air, the Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association (AMFA) announced that a union card drive has begun at Spirit Airlines — the self-proclaimed ultra-low-cost carrier headquartered in Miramar, Florida. While it is unusual for AMFA to publicize card drive initiatives, given that the Aircraft Maintenance Technicians (AMTs) at Spirit Airlines are currently non-unionized, it is important to build awareness that this significant initiative is underway.

Dec. 11th will mark the one full year of a card drive at Spirit Airlines for the Mechanic and Related. Anyone at Spirit wanna update as to how that is going? Do you guys have enough cards to give AMFA National to investigate?? I am baffled that AA Mechanics and Related beat you all to the punch as their cards have already been delivered to the NMB for verification and their one year was 1 month prior in Nov. 2020. It is to my understanding there are only about a few hundred to collect from.

Why hasn't AMFA tried to accrete this group since they are certainly part of the M & R class and craft?
At SWA the MC didn't want to go union at the time AMFA first came in so AMFA didn't force it. After some time and seeing how AMFA operated so differently than how the teamsters did here they, MC's, called upon AMFA to represent them and they did vote them in along with some (3) other groups also going AMFA at the same time.
At Alaska, I think it went the same way, once they saw in person how the AMFA represented the mechanic and related "only" and how much more focused on the mechanic groups they are is why they also elected to go with AMFA for representation.
Won't be long now and we should get the go ahead from the NMB to get an election vote at AA and we will get all the groups that the NMB will allocate as "Mechanic and Related"

Should Spirit AMT's get one for one seniority if Jetblue gets clearance to purchase them?
