Wow! I have never seen it snow so hard for so long in DFW as it was doing today. I joking welcomed the pax to Chicago instead of DFW it looked like such a winter wonderland.

Made it in fine from MIA but 2 1/2 deicing delaying leaving DFW back to MIA.

I'd have taken pictures but people would have thought I had them photoshopped with all the snow.

Word has it that the whusses at HQ had a "snow day". In other words a paid day off (in addition to Presidents day). Even though the driving conditions inn the DFW are were not "THAT BAD", some slush, but not enough to stop VP Lexus SUV's. Kudo's to all those in front line ops who made to work, even though things weren't that tough.

Isn't that nice? What if 50% of AAers had called in sick at DFW that day? hmmm

Smells like a breakroom myth to me --- got anything to back that up? In my 15 years of working at 4333 Amon Carter, I lived thru a lot of ice and even snow storms, and don't recall even an early dismissal due to weather, let alone a snow day...

Maybe things have changed in the past three years, but unless a transportation emergency was declared for the airport, if you didn't show up, you were docked for a VC day.

That said, more and more companies are allowing people to be virtually based from other states (drastically expanding the potential job candidate market). If 90% of your job is working on documents and conducted via email, as long as you have a working phone and internet connection, who cares if you're sitting in a cube in Fort Worth or a cabin in Jackson, Wyoming?
