Got a great sneak peek for everyone regarding the new USAirways.com that we have been waiting for so long to see. I think it looks amazing. I like the new site and look forward to seeing it launched.

Anyway, back to the sneak preview. Getting there is a little interesting, but here are the full directions for those that are interested:

Tacky is an understatement. It's the SWOOSH! I swear can someone euthanize that thing its just gaudy. It makes everything it runs over, touch, fly by or interacts with look stupid and amaturish How is the lipstick smearing over the pigs lips Tempe?

The true test will be functionality, which the beta site has none. Also, did Tempe sanction an official preview on a teenager’s fansite?

Yeah, rolling out a few new style sheets hardly constitutes anything worth getting excited over.

They have graduated to "style sheets"? Wholly cow! What next? Perhaps a twentieth century outlook?

When will they join the twenty first century? You know, the one the rest of us are in.

It's OK, but like others have said, functionality will be the true test.

The advertisements are a bit excessive IMO; I don't like how the information on each page is prefaced and ended by a "special" or "ad." Also, I'm not sure what it is about the color of the title, but it seems off (in a bad way). Other than that, it looks decent though.

for what some individuals are paid in the IT dept. I would have to say, they need to do better than a few free style sheets with some customization on it. I mean, There are high schoolers that make better looking web sites.....geeze..

There seems to be a sincere and real effort to get this right. Personally I don't much care what the site looks like visually, I care what is does and how easy it is to do it.

My point (above) essentially underscores this: what it looks like is meaningless. LUV's website looks like something from 1998. It works. I'll take that over a CSS'd swoosh.

I have been told that airline web sites are among the trickiest, most complex of all web sites to construct and have function in a reliable manner.

Pure and utter bollocks. Someone fed you a big, fat, hairy line or wants you to feel empathy.

Or maybe we are crossing terminology here--the website portion is easy. If the backend is stupid (which in this case is a given), it's impossible to polish the turd (Above and beyond an updated and shwooshy style sheet).

Let's abstract this for a moment to prove my point: CO runs shares. CO's reservation system generally works. CO's website generally works.

US runs shares. US' interfaces (QIK) and middleware (whatever they are running in Tempe that sits between shares and the web front-end) blows large rocks thru a small straw. Until you fix the stupid middle, the web front-end is the last of the problems.

Maybe it's my imagination but US seems to be getting their IT act together ever since Beery resigned. Maybe it's perception on my part.

Waay too early to undo stupid. Give it 6 months and re-evaluate.
