This Roger Frizzel guy from corporate communications has been putting out defensive press releases lately in response to releases by other carriers.

Northwest

Delta

Why these defensive releases. AA has been claiming to be the innovator for years on ideas that were not their own but the competition has not been defensive about it. The worst part is that this type of release is not positive for AA...it gives AA the appearance of being a whiny cry-baby while giving excellent free press to DL and NW by touting the fact that they had previously mentioned services.

Mr. Frizzel needs to concentrate on his own airline. This is very unprofessional (and counter productive) advertising.

I think these PR's are doing what they're supposed to do. They caught your attention and mine. Their aggressive tone surprised me too but maybe thats what's needed! 😉

This is the third time AA has done this, once before each to UA and DL. This is a new vp at AA and this guy is nuts ... even the AvDaily mentioned that AA has taken on an aggressive PR stance.

They've clearly been smart not to go after CO like this, it's stuff like this that sets Gordon off and I'm sure nobody wants to see that!

I think it just goes to show that AA doesn't know their place in the world right now. The ship is sailing but there is nobody at the wheel ie The light is on but there's nobody at home. It's probably just a matter of time before this guy is canned as these strange press releases will not make a future passenger more endeared to AA nor get someone who has or will book another carrier to change their plans based upon these press releases. They are so strange I doubt they will even get a response from the other airlines that AA has attacked.

American Airlines... WILL NOT... be winning over the masses using their childish outlashes!

These kind of releases are completely childish and to be honest are uncalled for. American Airlines is in no shape to say such things. Perhaps NWA could come back and ask American Airlnes why American Airlines has failed everytime they try to expand in ASIA??

I don't see ANYTHING wrong with this.

He is saying AA serves more destination, not that AA is better then NW.

You guys over complicate things.

I was seeing the same thing lately, wasn't sure if it was just me that was noticing this odd practice.

It is kind of cheesey to comment on someone's press release in another press release. Why not just go on US Aviation and slug it out like the rest of us?

No...these PR's are not doing what they are supposed to do. Instead of alerting me to AA's action, they made me go look at their competitions' releases that I had previously ignored. In fact, the fact that AA stated that it is old news to AMR and how they operate, that doesn't make AA seem very enticing and it makes the other carriers look even better since they are making strides forward rather than reminiscing about what they already have.

So they caught our attention and threw it right to their competitors' releases. I think that UA, DL, and NW are actually thankful for AA's releases.

Where did this new VP come from? It's definitely not marketing.

Ch 12 I totally agree with you what he is doing is a total waste of time when they are other important promotions that he should be thinking of organizing to put a better image of AA out in the public's eye and to increase AA's traffic.

If I was Arpey I would ask him what is his goal for those press releases because if this is the best he can do well he is dead weight that needs to be dropped.
