Given that I live in PHX, and US is the dominant carrier here (well, guess we could thrown WN in there as well) - I have a request that I've actually never seen before on here.

I'm looking for an airline pilot (or HIGHLY experienced) who has or does flight training, or who perhaps could provide names of colleagues who do this sort of work on the side (maybe a retired pilot as well).

About 20 years ago, I attained my Private certificate, but unfortunately I immediately had an accident that scared me - which ultimately caused me to quit flying. After all this time, I'm ready to slowly get back into it with a good, patient, professional instructor. Given my situation, I just need someone who fits those requests.

Please feel free to PM me... and I thank anyone for any contacts that can be provided.

I wish you the best, my friend,
Some of my new hire compatriots are still in the active service with the National Guard.
This is an horrendous field to enter into. Many stock portfolio avatars would tell you, BUY, BUY, BUY,! At the end of the day, they are simply selling you a product. There is no easy path to Elysium. It is all a crap shoot. Best bet (as always) is that you know someone. Well, do you? If not, worm your way into that relationship. Not comfortable with that? Find another line of work.
I did not, and have always felt the repercussions.
I once applied to every floatplane operator in Alaska. One fellow responded to me "how dare you think you can just come up here and get a job"?
Well, 'F him, I got a damn good job at the time, in Alaska, looking at bears.
If you really want it, you will make it happen. The underlying question is, "IS IT WORTH IT"?

Well do you? If you do, you are loco like me.
God help you ; )

I don't know if the OP has aspirations of becoming a professional pilot, or just wants to fly for fun. If it is the latter, another option for you might be to try soaring. There are several good schools in Arizona. More info can be found at www.ssa.org

Have you gone to a local airport to check out the flying schools? I don't know that this is the best forum to find a flight instructor since most active airline pilots are not really able to instruct on the side. Not easily, at least. Even if they did, you'd have to have an airplane unless they provided that as well.

Also check out http://www.aopa.org and http://flighttraining.aopa.org, both of which have a wealth of resources for new and seasoned pilots alike.

Best of luck.

Glad to see that you are getting back into flying. Take it one day at a time and you will accomplish your goal.
