Highmark to hold meetings for retirees of US Airways

Thursday, December 23, 2004

Health insurance provider Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield has scheduled informational meetings on Tuesday at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Moon to explain insurance options for US Airways retirees. An estimated 1,300 Western Pennsylvanian residents could be affected if the airline, currently operating under Chapter 11 bankruptcy, eliminates retiree insurance benefits, Highmark said. Three separate meetings have been scheduled for groups represented by different unions. Times are: 9 a.m. for members of Local 1976 of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers; 12:30 p.m. for the Association of Flight Attendants and the Transportation Workers Union; and 3 p.m. for Local 1044 of the International Association of Machinists, and Local 13302 of the Communications Workers of America. Medicare eligible individuals who cannot attend the meetings may call (800) 227-8195 for more information. All others should call (800) 876-7639.

Is this offer open to those that want to take the early out? Seems to me that the more folks that choose this insurance, the less expensive coverage will be or those folks. It may also allow someone that wants the buyout, but can't afford COBRA, to take this opportunity to go!
Anybody?

That's all the paper had (and I wondered the same thing). I guess you'd just have to call the 1-800 number.

Is it true that CWA Pax current and retired employees will not have any dental coverage after 1/1/04? The F/A will be able to continue theirs??
How can the CWA let that one go by??
