If the Pilots won this grievance, then who was doing the maintenance on these aircraft? Do we have any scope language or not?

AMR Ordered to Pay Pilot Union
Friday April 16, 12:18 pm ET
DALLAS (Reuters) - An arbitrator has ruled that American Airlines must pay the union that represents its pilots $23.2 million after the airline violated contract terms through improperly using a subcontractor, the airline and the union said on Friday.
American, a division of AMR Corp. (NYSE:AMR - News) cannot appeal the decision made on Thursday by arbitrator Stephen Goldberg, the Allied Pilots Association said.
The dispute concerned the use of commuter carriers affiliated with American Airlines after a round of pilot furloughs at American in October 2001.
The pilots' union contended that AMR improperly booked flights with an affiliated commuter airline. In the period after the furloughs of American pilots, AMR is supposed to keep the number of passengers it flies on its affiliated commuter carriers within pre-furlough levels, the union said.
AMR said in a statement it thought it was operating within the terms of the contract.
"While we do not agree that a monetary award is warranted, we look forward to continuing the positive steps we have taken to improve our relationship with the APA," the company said in a statement.
