Pilot jobs overseas

Good article, thanks for the link.

Interesting fact re the lack of pilot schools outside of the US.

Also, that pilot who moved to the Asian cargo carrier has the right idea.

Cargo, while decidely unglamorous, is hugely profitable.

Plus the boxes don't talk back.

IMO it is a good thing. The more competition for experienced pilots the better. The more options the better.

International Passenger or Cargo flying is not for everyone, but it offers a real alternative to US pilots willing to give it a try.

As with everything it comes down to money made and time at home. While in years past there was no comparison with domestic carriers... With the lower pay/retirement and the increased workload being the new norm at US carriers, international or ex-pat flying has become a more viable choice.

Richard went to Cathay Pacific, one of the toughest aviation jobs in the world to get. There is one US pilot that was hired at Cathay at the same time but decided to stay at US Airways, seems the grass is greener here than Hong Kong.

I traded the green grass for sand and it feels a whole lot better. Didn't change jobs, just the guys I work for. As the song goes, 'just give me a little r-e-s-p-e-c-t.' J. Glass will never steal another dime from my family. Now that's something to feel good about! Most of my life, I never realized an opportunity until the opportunity didn't exist. Change, although sometimes difficult, can be for the better, and in this case, so far, it has been!

I hope it continues to be for the better. As long as someone else signs your paycheck, there's always the possibility of someone like Jerry Glass stealing from you again. Even the absolute nicest, kindest, generous CEO's and/or owners decide to move on or sell and get replaced by Jerry-clones, clueless nitwits or both. Happens all the time. It happened to my company in 1987.
