ISLIP, N.Y., Feb. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Aviation Capital Management (ACM), an aviation-based professional services firm, recently announced the completion of their most recent project, Phase I of Southwest Airlines' new Peter J. McGowan Concourse at Long Island MacArthur Airport (ISP) in Islip, NY.
Aviation Capital Management is the Owner's Representative for Southwest Airlines for the largest self-funded airport capital project undertaken in the airline's thirty-year history. ACM staff are directly managing over $71 million worth of design and construction contracts held directly by and paid for by Southwest Airlines at ISP.

Key ACM staff in New York and Indianapolis, led by ACM President Andrew Vasey, combined to provide Southwest Airlines with planning, project management and cost control services for the extension of the existing terminal building and the construction of four new gates. The 114,000 square- foot expansion includes enhanced passenger amenities, including national and local restaurant operators, and accommodates four of the airlines' latest model of Boeing 737-700 aircraft with winglets, providing longer stage lengths.

ACM recently began Phase II of the project, the addition of four additional gates, scheduled for completion in 2006.

"We applaud the efforts of ACM under Andy Vasey's leadership, along with all the local Long Island contractors and subcontractors, who turned a dream into a reality," said Herb Kelleher, Southwest Airlines' Executive Chairman of the Board.
