How did that Ebonics experiment work out?
Educate the people for the environment they will live in, to cater to them otherwise makes them handicapped.
My wife is Korean and when we met I could read/write and speak most Korean.
When we decided that the US will be our permanent home, I stopped speaking "ANY" Korean, pretended not to understand and forced her to grab a translation dictionary.
It was pretty frustrating at first, but paid off in the long run.
She graduated from college and has her own successful business.
All in English.
The only downside is I lost a lot of the Korean Language that I worked hard to learn, but then again, I have Her! so I gained a lot more than I lost!
