Wonder why they started with the east side planes. Were they the first to come up needing a paint job? Thought the plan was to do all the AWA planes first to have a common fleet.? Or can you opperate under a AWA cert painted US Airways?

I dunno, some of our 57's are pretty bad! (Thankfully we no longer have a plane painted in the Sun's scheme to look so crummy after 6 months of direct sunlight on it...Barney was one UGLY plane! Now if only we can rid ourselves of that Cardinals plane! lol.)

I saw one of the new liveries in SJU last weekend. I had to do a double take because it sure looked like a US flag on a Delta tail.

The reason for the west fleet first is simple We are US Airways... EAST planes are already in us livery and will be the last to be painted West planes need to shed the HP livery

I agree. It's hard to hide the big America West on the side of the plane. Better to get down to 2 paint jobs saying US Airways. As for the US East ac being painted this year? I have never seen as many chipped paint jobs as are on our East a/c. It is humiliating.

yes the whole fleet of US/East was painted back in '97/98.
the newest paint job being the last A330 to come out of Airbus back in 2000.
Paint typically lasts about 7 years on an aircraft if it is done correctly. I think Steve Wolf went with the lowest bidder when he tried to spruce up the fleet for sale. that's why all the peeling paint.

Some of the 737-300's were just painted within the last 2 or 3 years. Right before the first BK. Remember some of the Silver Bullets running around. Like '02 or '03 they were painted.

AWA is getting it's first US paint job next week.
Brand new A320 AC N679AW will fly to ROS and be painted in the new colors. AC 678 will follow in a few weeks that is the 2 A320 in 2005. Can't wait to see it!

Does anyone know if the brand new US-West A-320's 678 and 679 are leaving the factory in primer, or where they painted in full HP colors ?

Thanks
