One way to the states but only in First.

Just looking at a/c and schedules and here is what I found interesting.

For example, AUA-PHL connect in CLT on 11/4 (US874/US1586) won't sell one way in coach. It will sell one way in First, not in coach. When I look up buckets it's Y9 F2 meaning 2 in First open and at least 9 and Y9 F4 for the CLT-PHL connection. When I try a round trip PHL-CLT-AUA-CLT-PHL out: 11/1 and back on 11/4 it will sell Y on all flights. Is there some rule that one way to the states from Aruba must be done in First class?

This situation occurs thru various means of travel booking engines and not only usairways.com. I've tried Travelocity, Expedia and CheapTickets. Not sure if it's the same w/ other airlines as well, but then again not all airlines have Business or First (a la JetBlue which also flies to AUA from JFK/BOS)

Thanks in advance for an explanation.

They could be holdbacks for those individual segments in an attempt to steer Y passengers to the AUA-PHL nonstop. They'll sell them separately to people who need them, but not as a connection.

But the pricing makes the connection attractive if one were to be looking for a one way from AUA to PHL.

On 11/4:
AUA-CLT-PHL one way First on US#875/1586 = $424
AUA-PHL on way coach on US#854 = $506 (one way first is $917)

If I answer your question, will you promise to admit that US Airways is not the greatest airline of all time?

AUA-CLT-PHL one way First on US#875/1586 = $424
AUA-PHL on way coach on US#854 = $506 (one way first is $917)

The lowest one way fare is $424, which just happens to be in First with a connection. I've seen this in many markets over the years at certain times.

Now on 11/7- both AUA-PHL and AUA-CLT-PHL force you to buy F if going one way. If purchased roundtrip, Y is available on both. Haven't see this anywhere before. And I know it's not a usairways.com glitch.

I see this all the time. UA, NW, etc. all do this. Depending on the market and routing, sometimes a First class ticket (usually restricted) is cheaper than Coach if all of the cheaper Coach fares are already sold or zero'd out.
