I talked to one of our uniform committee and he told me that company is going to meet up with stan herman to design our uniforms.
He designed TWA's uniform in 1974, United, Fed Ex, Eastern and the current JetBlue uniforms. He also designed uniforms for New York's Meridian ,MGM and Monte Carlo Hotels in Las Vegas.
I don't know much about this designer, but I guess at least he has experience in designing crew uniforms.

It's about time someone had some sense to put a designer on our behalf. Can't wait to see the results.

SKY high states: well, I got a peek at the NEW DELTA uniforms over the week. Hoo humm. The red dress looks like it has a SATIN finish. The female wearing it decided to wear it, two sizes too small. It showed every lump and bump she had. NOT attractive!

Sure hope STAN does something classy!!!!!!!!!

Seems like a good move. The JetBlue uniforms are generally seen as having hit the target - stylish, but not too formal or tired (a la US Airways) and not too casual (a la Southwest). Hopefully, he can be just as successful for the new US Airways.

Seems Stan Herman is very well known in the Fashion Industry and share the same prestige and awards as Ralph Lauren. Good move for the company to finally hire someone to design our uniforms. I mean, I know the company is trying to save some $$$, but c'mon...image is everything and they need to spend some money on it.

Here's some pictures of the designs he created for the airlines.

I'm not sure I like the TWA uniform, but then again it's not 1974. Fashion has changed.

Anybody have any pictures of the Eastern and United uniforms he designed? I'd like to see the Meridian and MGM desk clerks too.

Are our necks ugly or something? Why does every designer feel the need to cover them up with something!

:D

How many here feel those models in the pics represent the current F/A staff at mature US Carriers? Hopefully its not all centered around the thin people. Perhaps this guy will take into account that not all F/A's are on the Karen Carpenter diet, and design something that will look good on everyone. :):):):):)

People that are overweight should have their "own" uniform piece to wear. The f/a's that are either naturally thin or work to keep themselves that way should not have to be covered up in something thats not fitting for their body because heavier people would not look well in it. I'm sure there will be something for everyone. There is a choice with the current east uniform yet some women and I say women because men have NO uniform choices, choose the right one for their body type. As for covering the neck, I have wondered the same thing. Do most designers have to throw a rag around a neck to make it "fashion".

Ah the neck :):):):)

i think it is done to cover the fact that much can easily be done to make the face look/appear youthful, but not much can be done to hide the "TRIPE" that comes on the neck with age :):):):):)

I dunno, my neck looks just fine.
No "tripe" yet, no wrinkles.
Yet I am hoping for a scarf to wear.
West had one years ago that we could wear with our first navy dress.
It was fun, and you could get creative with how you tied it.
Scarves are very feminine and attractive.
Too many West FAs are stuck in an 80s time warp wearing a male-style tie.
The only thing I kept from my short stint at CO was the scarf.
