Non rev fares doubled

Freedom what difference does it make if a person works at US for the flight benefits. These people usually just work the minimum hours and then work a seperate job. The company is not paying them if they aren't working so it doesn't matter. There is no more money made by the company from someone who works 16hrs a week or 40 it makes no difference.

EMBFA and FlightChic. In a way you are playing into the company's hand by leaving and not forcing them to buyout or furlough. If you and the rest of the reserves really wanted to send a more painful message you would hold out just long enough for the company to do their buyout and furlough this Fall and then quit. Now the company would need to fill slots after they had paid to clear slots and the newly furloughed would likely tell the company where they could stick their recall. Then, the company might need to train new FA's and that would increase their costs through increased training and the inevitable quitting by really new folks who don't realize what they actually signed up for when they took the job.

In short, you make it more expensive for the company in order to show them how much you appreciate all their efforts to improve your life over the past few years while you were busy taking care of their customers.

Best wishes to both of you.

I see what you're saying but it has more to do with me than with the company. There is no future here! None! I was actually going to wait another year before quitting but I am currently looking for another job. I won't be quitting until August anyway, and at that time, I will know whether I will be furloughed or whether I will need to quit. Either way, I am outta here!

(on buddy passes, my belief is that that "friends don't let friends fly on buddy passes")

I do, however, have a bone to pick with ther increased parents' fees (as I have with the fee in ther first place.) Parents - and other family member flying without the employee - alreaday have a lower boarding priority (another "west thing" :) and another bone picking issue) - and taxes kick in as well.

I would, actually, not have a problem with a return to the old east term pass policy that was in place for many years:

USD 50 fee a year per person (including parents) for unlimited travel OR USD 15 (or some such) per direction) for those who don't travel much. (there was a cap of USD 250 for large families). The USD 50 went to pay for the pass bureau and other overhead costs of employee travel. Fifty bucks a year isn't unreasonable.

(OTOH, since the interline argeement with B6 lets parents fly for USD 25 per direction, now there is no reason for Mom and Dad not to fly with them! :) )

And with the talk of reducing service/routes will mean that flights will be fuller. So that means flying standby will become more difficult. So in reality...is flying non rev even going to be a benefit as an employee anymore?

Good God, Magnum! Is this true? I didn't know. Might as well take dad off the passes.

Look at the bright side, now people will stop bugging you to use your passes. I've defended a lot of the things the company has done but the last round of stuff is flat out embarrassing. If fuel stays up above $125, the entire industry is going to change radically by the first of the year. I would expect at least another half dozen carriers, including some legacies, to go out of business by this time next year if fuel doesn't go down dramatically.

You start with 8 passes a year, now you will end up with 8 at the end of the year. Nobody will want to subject their friends and family to this new cost structure when you can get a confirmed seat for about the same price or less in many markets. Who's gonna fork out $432 for a PHX-HNL rountrip only to get bumped?? Yes there is always a risk in non-rev travel, but when you pay a low price, the gamble to get a seat or not isn't that bad, but when you pay something just short of a full fare ticket, you expect a seat.

What about reg guest? any changes .

This is a slap in the face to employees. Though flight benefits if you wanna call them benefits are a privilege this is NO WAY needed to cover fuel costs. Keep ending company letters with "Keep up the good work" blah blah blah......Talk about a bad decision. I don't care if I use the benefit or NOT. Who would want a buddy pass for that price knowing your user of the buddy pass will for days on end trying to get somewhere. Hey maybe I can give a few buddy passes to some friends to use on ooooooh say PIT-MCO.

Yes it is they should hacve just fired us all and closed shop!

Can I just remind everyone that premerger on the EAST it was $400 to FRA and $100+ Transcon. for a buddy pass, and we had an annual fee deducted every pay for the privilege of non-reving. This is nothing new to some of us.
