Hey all,
I've seen a new United commercial popping up randomly on TV lately featuring United's service to Asia and was wondering if anybody knew where to find it online.

Thanks

Sorry, the one I'm thinking of is newer then "Dragon". It shows a lot of scenes from inside an Asian city (United is trying to promote its trans-Pacific service).

I love this campaigne. The TV ads are original, clever and compelling and the print work is beautiful.

Did you notice the cranes in the ad? They are considered lucky in many Asian cultures.

While many may disagree, I will always be partial to the "Rhapsody in Blue" commercials with the Gene Hackman voiceovers. To me, that will always be United Airlines in a nutshell. Sometimes companies exert so much energy trying to re-invent themselves that they forget how strong their brand recognition really is.

Although I'd imagine if you spend enough time going from the "B" to "C" concources at ORD, you'd quickly tire of Rhapsody in Blue. Oh well...

United remembers it's roots. That's Gershwin's "Rhapsody" playing in the background. Gene Hackman does have a great voice though...I don't know what UA paid him. I heard something like positive space first class for him and family. Now there is just an anonymous voice over. A lot less expensive.

No matter where I am or what I'm doing if I hear Rhapsody in Blue I think of United Airlines. Brilliant marketing.

Let's just hope UA doesn't dig too deep for it's roots. I dont' think we need to ever go back to the corny fluff of:

"fly the friendly skies...of united!"

That 'anonymous voice' on a lot of the commercials is Robert Redford.

I didn't know that. His voice certainly isn't as distinct as Gene Hackman's. At least not to me.

I agree. While Robert Redford is certainly a very well-known entertainment commodity, I'd venture to guess that his voice is not as easily recognizeable as Gene Hackman's.

I like the "United is Rising" commercials from the past showing a super clean 747-400 rising though the skies. :)

TheWatcher,

You may possibly be the only living person to actually admit having liked the "United is Rising" ad campaign. Given all of United's service problems during the campaign, it largely will be most remembered as the butt of everyone's jokes.

I was just wondering what was the ad campain called that had the killer whales swimming in the cabin of the 74? That commercial always stuck in my head.

United Airlines was the launch customer for the B777. That ad was all about the 777. They were trying to convey how roomy this new aircraft was/is.
It is a beautiful aircraft and there is a feeling of spaciousness in the cabin as the central overhead bins are very high. So high in fact that the bins are almost impossible for an average height person to close when it is filled with luggage. Oh well. Nothings perfect.

But I loved that ad too.
