New Study: Brains of Right Wingers May Actually be Less Highly Evolved!

I only asked because I HAVE been there...I was there to support a wife who was told that the baby she was carrying would not live, was horribly deformed (anencephaly) and the DOCTOR recommended terminating the pregnancy.  Thank God it was back in 1991 because due to the circumstances of her job, we did not find it out until a time where she could not get on in the state of Kansas today.  But...the GOP want's to ban all abortions, no matter what.  Her physical health was not threatened, but her MENTAL health was.  She was in such a deep depression that I feared that I was not only losing my child, but there was a real risk that I would lose my wife to suicide as well.  And waking up in the morning with that "precious life" inside her to remind her of that didn't help matters any.

The pro lifers all seem to want to lump every abortion as an act of birth control.  I can guarantee you that there were no two people who genuinely WANTED that child more than us.  And true enough....some people abuse abortion as long as it's legal.  That comes with the territory.  Just like some people will legally own a gun and shoot up a movie theatre, school, or restaurant...but even this lefty liberal knows that you can't ban guns altogether because of that.  You can try to limit some things....banning non automatic automatic weapons or demanding stricter background checks...but it's not right to ban them all.  Why is this not true of abortion?  The GOP clowns in their pandering to the "evangelical vote" are taking a "no how, no way, no exception" approach.

For a party that wants less government, they sure aren't willing to let abortion be an issue between the woman and her God....we both feel that our God understands and forgives - if forgiveness is even necessary.  But the GOP apparently knows more than GOD, so we need more laws.

I wouldn't get too wrapped up in campaign rhetoric. There has to be a medical option to save one or the other.

Best thing, like Huck said, we now have the technology to determine when you go from embryo to human and protect that humans rights in the womb.

Right now, the only difference between murder and abortion is puling the live baby's head out of the womb. It's ok to scramble its brains as long as it doesn't come completely out......guarantee this happened at PP and other places....

Sadly, campaign rhetoric became law in my state.  In 1991, my wife was opening TDD centers in Sacramento for Sprint.  She was gone for such a period of time that Sprint flew ME out there to spend a weekend with her.  She didn't get back to KC until she was 22 weeks into her pregnancy.  Then we were given some pretty damn devastating news.  And her doctor said "terminate the pregnancy".   And we did.

Fast forward to today....yep...old Huck said that we now have the technology to determine when you go from embryo to human.  In Kansas, our legislators set that time as 20 weeks.  AFter that, NO abortion...NO MATTER what the circumstances.  Now....I ordinarily wouldn't wish what my wife and I went thru on anybody....but I had to change that - I wouldn't mind if a God fearing Kansas legislator and his wife had to face it.  I mean...nothing brings a couple closer together than praying together that she miscarries soon.

That's kind of why I'd prefer to leave abortion between the woman and her God, and not let a state legislature or governor or congressman or president do what THEY think is best.
