The Goldman analysts also cut their price target on JetBlue Airways Corp (JBLU.O: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) to $3.40 from $5.00, lowered Northwest Airlines Corp (NWA.N: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) to $6.50 from $9.50, cut US Airways Group Inc (LCC.N: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) to $1.50 from $6.00, and lowered Alaska Air Group Inc (ALK.N: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) to $14.00 from $21.00.

Didn't Doug just tell us 6 or 7 weeks ago that US Airways was in a far better financial position than most of its comptitors going into this crisis?

Seems like Wall Street and the analysts don't agree. :blink:

Hey, LCC is trading now at $2.34....so, what, another $0.84 lower to go to get to the target....

Just like the airline's management, the analysts continue to lower the bar so the new business plan can kick in.

Seriously folks....................I have been wondering lately, "when" will BK III (liquidation) be filed? Before the end of '08 or early '09? I am hoping for early '09. There are a couple of corners of the world I have yet to see and , I need to get some non-reving in before there is no more retiree flight bennies!!!

I don't think Non Rev is asking for advice. It's just so much fun to speculate what will happen and to hear everyone's theory. Yeah, we're all blowing smoke, but you've got to admit, it is very entertaining. Remember all those threads that pop up about a big new announcement that is coming...Those threads end up going on and on and on. Yeah, so what if we're not fortune tellers. We can still take a guess, right? What's really fun is saying you have the inside scoop because you heard from Betty, a f/a you just flew with whose husband is a pilot, who has a cousin who has a friend who knows someone who works in Tempe who heard....you get the idea. You can really get people going! It's great for a laugh! For some of us, being at work with the way things are nowadays is not always easy and this whole piss poor operation can get you down if you let it. Making a mockery out of this whole place and finding the humor in it all helps us make it through the tough times without going ballistic. It's a great stress reliever in a twisted sorta way.

In case you want my 2 pretzels (oops, we don't have pretzels anymore) worth, I think we're definitely heading down BK3 Lane. I hate to see that happen and I hope to god that it doesn't, but it is a huge possibility with the way things are going.

HAY GURL! Thanks for the advice! I had no idea liquidation was coming. I'm so glad I came on here and you told me. Boy, that would have been a real downer to find out at the last minute. I would get up one day and go to the airport in my snazzy new uniform and BAM! No more US Airways. What a bummer that would be. But thanks to you, I am in the know. Bother way, you sure are the bearer of bad news. First I hear you say you are leaving, then you say this airline is headed towards liquidation. GURL! That ain't cool! I can only take so much bad news at a time. DAMMIT! Where's my heart medicine?

Maybe someday this government will realize that the Airline industry needs to be re-regulated. I mean, come on people. An airline has to be like the most impossible business model. Weather costs millions of dollars, the cost of goods changes by the minute, the systems that control air traffic are old and outdated... What company could be successful when it has so much going against it from the get go? WN? I guess, it only services how many airports? 40? America can't survive with only WN. Air travel is infrastructure. Could you imagine a company trying to compete with Amtrak? or a private company trying to compete with NJ Transit or SEPTA? This is why cities and transit authorities manage transportation and tax dollars pay for it. Our politicians are corrupt and worthless. We're digging our own grave. I hope all this political and corporate greed is worth it in five years, for all those who took part.

Actually I was looking for advice. I thought the thread about stock price might be a good place to ask...................guess I was wrong. In reality nobody really knows whats going to happen and when.
