Markmywords, Does this mean that they need more f/a to do these flights? Since we are already short flight crews, I guess this could be a problem?

US Airways will introduce new nonstop Saturday
service to Las Vegas from both Boston Logan
International and New York LaGuardia airports,
beginning Nov. 1. The Boston-Las Vegas flights will
operate with Boeing 757 aircraft, while service
between New York and Las Vegas will operate with
Airbus A321 aircraft.

These new nonstop flights will create an even more
convenient way for our customers in the Northeast to
visit one of the most popular leisure destinations in
the world, said Daniel McDonald, vice president
planning and scheduling.

US Airways currently operates three daily Charlotte-
Las Vegas roundtrip flights, four daily Philadelphia-
Las Vegas flights and four Pittsburgh-Las Vegas
flights Sunday through Friday, with two round trip
flights on Saturdays.

In September US Airways is reducing flying by 7,000 block hours, with 6,400 returned in October. In addition, the summer thunderstorm activity will begin to subside in September, which will reduce the flight crew scheduling strain, however, August could be problematic.

Best regards,

Chip

Not in effect on Saturday....no need to

Whatever happened to the like-new 757' belonging to National after they went belly-up? Who got their route slots?

Hope777,

Remember LAS is a 24 hour town. Most actually arrive in LAS at night to beat spending the day in the heat.

A hotel lets you check in whenever you arrive, that is nonsense, a hotel does not allow a saturday check in.

The flights will depart BOS @ 545pm and LGA @ 615pm. Is this too late for Saturday nights? You lose Saturday (for the most part) in Vegas and most major hotels DO NOT allow a Saturday check-in. I don't see this lasting very long. If the flights departed early Saturday morning maybe, but not Saturday night.

saturday check-in is allowed in Las Vegas but it must be part of a 2 night minimum stay
saturday is the busiest day of the week there

Lavman, don't know the last time you've been to Vegas. Most Major Hotels(not the Circus Circus or Stratosphere) require two night minimun and NO Saturday night check-in. Check out there web-sites. Also, the most expensive night in Vegas is Saturday, the non-gamblers feel they get dont get there moneys worth coming in late Saturday night.

As a frequent traveller and cheap gambler/flier to Las Vegas, yes most major hotels will not allow Saturday check-in. However, Saturday is also the cheaper day to fly if you want to spend at last part of a weekend in Vegas, so I usually stay off-strip at a non-casino property that allows Saturday check-in for 1 night, then back to the mega resorts the rest of the time.

I'm not quite clear on the point of this service, other than to try to provide those in BOS and LGA more options. LAS is almost always low-yield and Saturday travel is for cheapos like me... but hey, I guess they gotta send all those flights cancelled from PIT somewhere :)
