No haven't heard, don't know what US has but obviously its not very good because their workforce is even older than ours. ever see any videos from the US side, they are all old, even older than us.

We're older.  More scared. And more apathetic.

Our pension is gone. The 85 point plan is gone.  No way to retire.  We die here.

Welcome to America West.

On a lighter note, I do remember they did offer to pay 15 weeks severance, once or twice, if guys retired.

Isn't it just cheaper to make life so miserable for people so that they'll leave on their own?...
That's been American Airlines strategy for decades. Definitely the biggest ball bag outfit I've ever worked for. New hires come and go fast. They finally got the Mc Donald's revolving door they always wanted.

I left 10 years ago and they changed the non-rev status for retirees after I left.  I buy full fare tickets now.
Out of curiosity, can anyone explain to me why airline employees consider the cheapest ticket available "full fare"?

To me, full fare is what someone would pay for a positive space ticket. I know, you are probably thinking full fare is those expensive tickets airlines charge for people in an emergency and they need to book no matter what. That is OK for business but I am not paying the bill. As for me, I play the game. I book in advance and choose my seat and leisurely get on plane when they call my row. Hey Usair, thanks for the bennies I don't enjoy. Non-revving sucks.

Many years ago some co workers  and I got on Saber and looked up all the different fares for a flight from Tul to DFW .
There were 17 of them, from cheap to very expensive. There were just a few of the relatively cheap fares,

They have no choice now, they cant get anyone who want to come and work for AA. They cant fully staff MIA because it would crater the operation in NY.  They wont be looking to inspire people to leave, they will be looking to trap them here, and the IAMNPF is probably a component of their plan.

Omg a retiree / medical buyout package would be a God sent for so many in title 1 ... Folks that want to leave would be able to and AA would be able to upgrade a bunch of young next generation mechanics ... And being that the fleet is new that woukd work out perfect on the experience level as well ... But I guess that makes to much sense ... Oh well ......, one can only hope ....
I am just curious, what is the consensus here? Are they unable to find and retain new mechanics or do they have a pool of next generation mechanics ready for an upgrade?  Is the answer dependent on location?

Yes.

I don't see people leaving though, I only see people complaining on forums and a membership that refuses to oust the TWU.

Keep the non-rev crap, I'll trade it for money at the end!
I would do the same thing.

The only people non-rev really benefits are commuters.

Give me more money and I can afford to purchase a ticket for pleasure trips..
