Hey Bob, ------ Old is good!!! Signed, an old TWA fart!!!!------ By the way, that DC-10 says "Obama Air", with some new arrivals! ( all non-rev's!)Bob Owens said:No haven't heard, don't know what US has but obviously its not very good because their workforce is even older than ours. ever see any videos from the US side, they are all old, even older than us.
We're older. More scared. And more apathetic.Bob Owens said:No haven't heard, don't know what US has but obviously its not very good because their workforce is even older than ours. ever see any videos from the US side, they are all old, even older than us.
That's been American Airlines strategy for decades. Definitely the biggest ball bag outfit I've ever worked for. New hires come and go fast. They finally got the Mc Donald's revolving door they always wanted.eolesen said:Isn't it just cheaper to make life so miserable for people so that they'll leave on their own?...
Keep the non-rev crap, I'll trade it for money at the end!Hello3B said:Don't forget you will be using a different non-rev status when you leave.
If that is why you stay, you may have bigger issues to deal with?Hello3B said:Don't forget you will be using a different non-rev status when you leave.
I left 10 years ago and they changed the non-rev status for retirees after I left. I buy full fare tickets now.IORFA said:If that is why you stay, you may have bigger issues to deal with?
Out of curiosity, can anyone explain to me why airline employees consider the cheapest ticket available "full fare"?Seatacus said:I left 10 years ago and they changed the non-rev status for retirees after I left. I buy full fare tickets now.
To me, full fare is what someone would pay for a positive space ticket. I know, you are probably thinking full fare is those expensive tickets airlines charge for people in an emergency and they need to book no matter what. That is OK for business but I am not paying the bill. As for me, I play the game. I book in advance and choose my seat and leisurely get on plane when they call my row. Hey Usair, thanks for the bennies I don't enjoy. Non-revving sucks.IORFA said:Out of curiosity, can anyone explain to me why airline employees consider the cheapest ticket available "full fare"?
Bob Owens said:They have no choice now, they cant get anyone who want to come and work for AA. They cant fully staff MIA because it would crater the operation in NY. They wont be looking to inspire people to leave, they will be looking to trap them here, and the IAMNPF is probably a component of their plan.
I am just curious, what is the consensus here? Are they unable to find and retain new mechanics or do they have a pool of next generation mechanics ready for an upgrade? Is the answer dependent on location?AA767JET said:Omg a retiree / medical buyout package would be a God sent for so many in title 1 ... Folks that want to leave would be able to and AA would be able to upgrade a bunch of young next generation mechanics ... And being that the fleet is new that woukd work out perfect on the experience level as well ... But I guess that makes to much sense ... Oh well ......, one can only hope ....
Yes.eolesen said:Isn't it just cheaper to make life so miserable for people so that they'll leave on their own?...
