New DOT Requirement Observed Tests
From Jetnet:
Effective November 1, 2008, all DOT return to duty and DOT follow up drug tests will be observed. The DOT will now require a preliminary visual check for prosthetics or apparatus designed to carry clean urine. In the past, it was at the employer?s discretion to require observed collections for these tests.
The observer will be the same gender as the donor and the donor will lift and lower clothing to navel and mid-thigh, then turn around for the observer to make the required visual check.
This observed test procedure is also required in certain circumstances during or after other DOT tests (i.e. random, reasonable cause, post accident).
AA Medical staff will coordinate with an outside collection company to observe a drug test when required to achieve a gender match.
