"I have mentioned this several times as have others and the "Defender of the Realm" Mr Chiames, who by all accounts is a sincere, honest, ethical and approachable man has never chastised any author in public or in private over this comment, which to me lends far more credence than any other sources do.
Chris Chiames is a square shooter, He has corrected me on several ocassions and he is a man of his word, a gentlemen among theives near as I can tell."
If you say so Bob... but how about a short trip down memory lane...

PITguy, I apologize for the delay. I haven't been online and just saw your note.
We are not going to outsource heavy maintenance in PIT or elsewhere. We never even proposed it. (Unlike UA which has proposed the outsourcing of heavy maintenance.)
We will pay all furlough pay as provided for in the contract.
We have no further plans to lay off more mechanics beyond what is published. With the new commitment to operate 279 a/c, we will need just about all the mechanics on the property to perform the maintenance we have scheduled, since our fleet plan anticipated retiring some planes that we will now be flying.
Finally, we are not trying to vendor maintenance with either Boeing or Airbus.

I added the
bold for emphasis and to highlight key points. It was not written in bold in the original post. All other content is as it was originally posted.
Now I will grant you that this gentleman "possibly" believed what he posted, when he posted it. He is an OFFICER of the company and should have the big picture much farther down the road than we do, and if we read such a communication from one of our OFFICERS, we should be able to depend on it being lived up to. "Perhaps" he was lied to, or misled. You will also note he hasn't posted since March of this year, was he muzzled? What happened about the commitment to open communication?
When he posted this, we were in bankruptcy. Although things today are not great, the situation is better than it was during January. During our darkest hours of bankruptcy, the company never proposed vendoring out the work. Why now?
This is only another example of why there is no trust or respect for upper management. We need leadership and leaders that keep their word. I am not necessarily referring to Chris Chiames here. I have read other posts from you where he has been forthright and and a stand up guy, addressing your concerns. Since I believe you don't offer your praises lightly, I'm inclined to believe he was misled and got one royal chewing out after posting the above. I won't chastise him, either. I think its highly likely he reads this board frequently but has had his keyboard privileges revoked.
🙂 Hiya Chris!
We've made our commitment to U, we expect and demand the same. Since we don't see it, and neither do our most valued customers, I feel operating and growing a viable independent airline is not the name of this game. So be it.
