Landing Gear Jam Halts NWA Flight At MSP
(WCCO) A Northwest Airlines flight headed from the Twin Cities to Detroit, Mich. was canceled Saturday when the plane's landing gear got stuck in the grass along the tarmac, officials said.
NWA Flight 756 was taxiing toward the runway at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport when a pilot turned the Boeing 757 aircraft too sharply, a Metropolitan Airports Commission spokesperson said.
The airliner's right-side landing gear became stuck in the grass alongside the tarmac, and authorities say the weight of the plane caused the gear to sink into the ground.
The 145 passengers were taken off the plane and bused back to the terminal. No injuries were reported, the spokesperson said.
NWA Flight 756 was scheduled to depart MSP at 3:10 p.m. and land in Detroit at 5:57 p.m. The flight was listed on the airline's Web site as canceled due to aircraft maintenance.
The spokesperson reported no damage to the aircraft.
No other delays resulted from the incident, the spokesperson said.
