Just heard from the local news this evening that Dave is set to gain a cool 5 million if the company goes under. All opinions are welcome.

Will try to link the site.

Okay, forgive me. I can't find the link. Can anyone help out? It was a Pittsburgh station. Thanks.

Apparently you and I are different Bob.

There are many things that are legal that are unethical.

Here is a moment of clarity for you.

Many good people refuse, absolutely refuse, to do unethical things.

I know many. Of course I don't know you.

"Any one of us"? Wrong sparky. Not me. Not friends of mine.

I would expect nothing less from Dave and his cronies.

But we do know what you would do.

Actually, I don't mind anyone making lots of money. If Siegel can receive compensation like that, then I say congratulations.

On the other hand, if he has to put his hand into our pocket to get it then, he shouldn't be suprised if all he ends up with is a broken wrist!

It's probably something more on the order of 5 million if it goes under but 10 million 5 years after successful profits....you know how the media is.

cool 5 mill huh ? Heard from where?
Um, I don't know...maybe the local news in Pittsburgh? Just a guess... :p

Seriously, I'm all with you guys about posting rumor as fact without anything to back it up, but youngblood didn't do that here. He was very clear about the source and the message, and asked for input. Why beat him up? This wasn't galleytalk.

Sheesh

Your position is not defendable. If you need a policy manual or ethics guide to tell you what is moral, immoral, ethical or unethical you've got a problem. I assume you have a concsience.

You know exactly what I'm talking about. Gangwal and Wolfe did nothing illegal. Or against the policy manual or ethics guide when they walked out of here with their millions. As the rest of the company walked into Chapter 11.

I now understand with the clarity you mentioned exactly where you are coming from in your posts. I was a bit confused. No longer.

Devoid of scruples would probably be a good summation.

It's no different than the IAM going to court to preserve what they believe (and I do too) is rightfully, legally their work. Their is a contract. A legal binding contract is in place. What's happening now is a dispute over what that contract says. No morals, values or ethics are at play it is at its root a simple matter of both Labor and Contract Law.

Hell some would argue that strikes are Immoral & unethical. I would not be among them.
That's because you see no place for morals or ethics in business. You said as much. And you tried to lump us in with that erroneous view. Include yourself but leave me out. I would NOT accept 15 million bucks from a company that I just played a major role in routing to Chapter 11. Nor would I accept 5 million bucks from a company whom I just helped into liquidation. You would. I wouldn't.

There are moral and ethical businesses all over this country. Profitable ones. They generally are inclued in the Forbes rankings for the best places to work in America. Their leaders and BOD's operate under capitalistic rules while utilizing a heavy dose of morals and ethics. They are not mutually exclusive pal. You seem to assume they are. Just because U doesn't apply those principals to its business operations doesn't mean other great companies don't.

You would make a good CEO Piney. You'd fit right in here at US Airways.
