Military Jet Crashes At Rdu

Just hit the news on TV. F-18 crashed at RDU. From the location on the field, it appears there will probably be delays for a while. Hope the crew ejected, but no word yet.

Latest update...

Apparently had some kind of trouble on takeoff - was second in flight of 2. Pilot ejected & is apparently ok. Plane appears to have ended up next to parallel taxiway for rwy 5L/23R.

WBTV of Charlotte showed some aerial footage of the crash...and the F/A-18 was still clearly noteable as to what it was inspite of the fire.

RDU did close the terminal for a period of time thus leading to delays in and out of RDU according to WBTV.

The F/A-18 was based out of the Naval Air Station NAS Oceana in Virginia.
