Yes, I was active. Too active according to some folks who didn;t see the same picture as I did in the industry. I seem to remember telling everyone in late summer 1999 that air traffic was a leading indicator and that we were entering the Clinton recession, but nobody wanted to believe it. It was still "laissez les bon temps roulez".

If you saved / archived some of the message threads from there, I would love to get the electrons.

In particular I would love to see WN vs the World, parts I, II, III, IV, V etc etc (or was the title U vs WN in the Battle for BWI? something along those lines)

Some of the stuff I recall posting regarding U turned out to be pretty prophetic, although I can assure you I don't bask in the misery of others just because I said it would happen. It might not have happened if anyone had listened to what I was telling them.

At any rate, I can be reached at elpaggie78@hotmail.com Drop me a line.

Wow, I definately remembered your handle. Will email you.

Its kinda wierd how the boards turned out. The big boards on PBB were American, US Airways, United, Southwest, and Delta. For the most part thats true here - except Delta and Southwest. Southwest has had some activity, but never to the level of the PBB boards. Delta basically died. It was extremely vibrant on PBB and was, IIRC, moderated by the "Wedge."

Continental has always been weak; the regional carriers were grouped into a "Small Fry" board (HP, F9, AS, FL, and whoever else was alive at that point).

Anyhow, its clear that this board has become the dominant replacement, although, as noted above, I wonder what happened to the traffic for two airlines.

I remember you. You and I often saw eye to eye on things. Good to see you're still around. Hope all is well with you.

1) I told the employees in 2000 that they should agree to all concessions and look here…four years later, and the employees are still in the same ominous situation.

2)The unions keep blaming management, however, the problem could be with the workforce. I also stated that the CWA should agree to $16 wages and Siegel created Mid Atlantic and now the workforce will have no choice other than to accept this lower pay scale. The days of making $20 to answer telephone is finished, more than ever since the LCC are hiring hundreds of employees at half the salary. I also find the argument about SWA pay scale amusing; they have made a profit every year, unlike your company.

3) One thing that I have learned in my 20 years as an attorney is that contracts are made to be broken.
1) Four years and two rounds of concessions later and we're still in the same ominous situation. Wonder why that could be?

2)The problem is with the workforce. We're all senior. You said it yourself, the LCCs are HIRING people (starting wage) at half the pay of all of us who are topped out. There's no mystery or rocket science in that fact.
I'm curious too as to how us paid less than Southwest employees are supposed to be able to make the decisions that would enable US to make a profit. Dave doesnt even answer my email and they havent liked any of my cost savings ideas I've submitted so I can't help you with that one either.

3)Spoken like a true lawyer (or manager). And you have to ask why they both get such a bad rap?

4) Yes I was active on PBB.

In this case, spoken like a true wind-up artist/troll. Yet people keep taking the bait and giving him/her his/her jollies.
Trying to hijack a thread on the second post takes a lot of chutzpah...

Close. "Widget". As the triangular DL logo has been called since it's 1962 inception.

Oh, and to answer the poll question: Yes, I was on Holly's PBB but left when she attempted to make it a "pay-to-post" deal. Not a pilot but cheap like one...

OK, you're right. David Levine was also a common name - I tjink he either worked for TW or AA and was browbeaten into renunciating his moderating duties at some point. There was some conflict as to his moderating and his financial analysis of TWA.

I was active on that board as well. I did find Holley to be VERY biased against
Us Airways most of the time. I recall that one of her relations was employed by SWA as a pilot. Granted comparing SWA to US can bring out the bad in anyone.
I remember when they pulled the plug on AA & TW during their takeover due to some serious bashing on their boards.

Yeah, and didn't the same thing happen to Eric (?)... can't remember the last name. IIRC he was with AA or TW too.........

I am a PB refugee too. When Holly switched to pay-to-post (subscription) and someone from USAviation announced on the PB board that US Aviation would welcome the PB members here, I bolted.

Does anyone know if the subscription board is still active over there?

IMHO, the Delta board is about the same on both sites. On PB, it was more active, but it did not come close to the activity of tha AA board.
Here, it is pretty much the same.

For the most part, I see some names that I remember. I wonder what happened to the others.

Regards,
ah

I frequented PBB. It was a refreshing change from the extremist mechanic BBs I visited. I liked the varied threads and insight into other airlines topic du jour. I had a pretty low seniority number there.

But IMHO subscriptions to BBs aren't worth the two cents people claim to put in - I bailed when USAviation extended the offer. Thank you. Still might be able to get weekends off with BB seniority I have now. B)
