According to the Hub, September Classes (#'s XI and XII) are Scheduled for September 7th and September 13th respectively, but the List of awarded names are the same for Both Classes? Looks like these Names are erroneously being pulled from Class # X. Anyone know what's going on there?

Where can you find it on the hub?

Go to Flight Crew Information ------> Under Inflight Services Click What's New ------> Under Month of August Click MidAtlantic Classes XI and XII.

One of my friends started the August 23rd class today and said there were only 13-14 people in there. Evidently many decided to just not show up.

From what she said, MidAtlantic is short staffed and scrambling to get as many trained as possible as quickly as possible. Three more of my friends that were in this last round of letters got awarded the September 13th class. September was their first choice, so they got their wish.

Everyone in the September classes have already been told they are going to be based in PHL, and the instructor said they are hoping to open that alleged base in DCA as soon as they can, perhaps by November. Don't know if this was just the instructor's opinion or what, but if that is true then the bankruptcy thing doesn't seem to be stopping the progress at MAA!

Air conditioned:

May I ask around what Seniority # were your Friends? Also, how were they notified? September was my First Choice also, and I haven't heard an thing.

I'm just trying to get a feel for what might be going on, and trying to plan accordingly (especially with my current job).

Any info would be helpful and appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Flyguy-

My friends were in the January 01 class, and one of them was the most junior in that class because of her age. They got their letters this afternoon, so they are busy scrambling to get ready, tell their employers, find a crashpad, etc.

I think most folks put down October or November as their first choice. (For obvious time reasons)

Also, the instructor said that many, many people had passed for MAA altogether. I guess they weren't expecting that.

I hope this helps!
Good luck to you and let us know what you find out!

Flyguy,
I see what you mean about the Hub. When you click on the class lists for September, the class X list comes up instead. Must be a computer glitch.

Hopefully they get that fixed tomorrow.

You know, this is where I wish the company could just fire people from mainline who are MDA no-shows... or at least revoke their pass privileges until they return to mainline. This is a dependability issue and besides others who want to fly missed out on that class. There is absolutely no excuse... Good Lord... if someone can't just give two weeks notice that they've changed their minds, that's deplorable. Absolutely not fair to the company or to the other MDA wannabes. People need to take it more seriously than they are.

Classes have been updated. Looks like 25 for the class beginning on the 7th and 50 for the one starting on the 13th. They got to a April '01 seniority. They're two classes from the bottom of the seniority list. Better get those wholey owned FAs ready.

Just curious...will the wholly owned f/a's that come over to MAA make what they are making currently or will they start at the MAA pay scale? Or at the MAA pay scale as if they were a new hire?
Also, what will they start people at that they hire off the street?

I wonder how many will want to come...

I believe, and PitBull can correct me if I'm wrong, that new hires start out at AE (American Eagle) pay rates. Mainline folks get the premium based on their seniority, thanks to the contract negotiated by AFA. I don't know what rate any of the wholly-owned people come in at, but I believe PSA pays a bit more than MDA/mainline people, so they would have to take a pay cut to come to MDA. Whether that pay cut is to MDA/mainline crew levels, new hire levels, or somewhere in between I really couldn't say. But, again PitBull would probably know.

It looks like new hires will be coming soon to a base near you. I predict the second pass through the furlough list will be very quick, and so I'd venture to say maybe March or April new hires will be on the property. Good news for the MDA folks and their seniority.
