With the current finicial situation it is highly reasonable to think that MDA stands a chance. After yesterdays statement by Bronner, kiss MDA goodbye!
(statement referring to if we do not profit by July- Airways is done)
ALPA MEC is holding a meeting today to hear a report from the NC on scope relief negotiations. The info from this meeting may go a long way toward answering the question.
skyguy, do you really think US Airways is not going to sell of your beloved PSA? Are you delusional?
Seeing as the first plane for Mid arrives I believe next week, flight attendants are currently in training, and pilots already have been for awhile, I'd venture, uh yeah!
Will US try to contract out some EMB flying and screw the furloughees again? Probably. We'll see if that happens. They are contractually bound to MAA for the first 80 aircraft, it was part of our concessions that those jobs be offered.
I really don't see the point in your poll?
Besides, if they pull out of MAA, you better believe AFA will look for a J4J type program- no way will there will be anymore jet growth without the furloughed flight attendants who made a sacrifice (thier job) for the company (yes, they voted for the concessions knowing it would mean thier job). Who knows, maybe we'll all come to PSA with the pilots. If thats the case, hope you've got at least six years of seniority!
MAA will certainly operate, in my opinion. Even if Bronner liquidates US (or sells off pieces), MAA will remain as a feeder for another carrier. Much like PSA, PDT and ALG remain today as feeders for US mainline.
my beloved PSA? lol. I thought you were over the assumption that I was somehow directly employeed with PSA. Oh, well. We shall see what happens in the next 96 hours or so..

Just wanted to give you an update on the Special MEC Meeting in DCA.
We received an update from the Negotiating Committee on the status of negotiations on the Scope Relief Issues. They indicated that there would be a resolution sometime next week. Remember Membership RATIFICATION is required.
Below is a paraphrased summary of the company proposals:

The meeting will be held Friday, March 5 in NYC with RSA attorneys, Company representatives, and representatives of ALPA. The parties will endeavor to expeditiously resolve all outstanding Tag Along issues.
2. The company will participate in the industry off line jump seat plan. Once this process is approved, the company shall apply to TSA to participate after it determines the cost of participation in the program.
3.The company agrees to implement a procedure arranging for alternate access to secure areas at pilot domicile airports.at company cost.
4.Commuter Policy: the parties will negotiate and implement a commuter policy by no later than July 1,2004.
5.Trip construction: The company and Association will establish a working group to review PAIRING Construction parameters with the objective of seeking mutually beneficial improvements to the quality and efficiency of pairings.
Summary of Company Requests for Scope relief.
1.Allow EMB170-175 to be flown by a Participating Affiliate at 50% Jets for Jobs.
a)exception for MDA if spun off as a stand alone entity for 100% jets for jobs.
b)Modify MDA change of control and fragmentation protections.
2. a. Allow CRJ aircraft flown or on order at PSA to be flown by a participating affiliate at 50% jets for jobs.
2. b. if PSA is sold maintain 50% j for j.
3. increase the limitation on Large SJs at PSA from the current 25 to 60.
4. Extend the deadline from 12/31/04 to 12/31/06 to place the large SJs at participating affiliates.
I assume that the term affiliate carrier means MESA. As you read more and more about MESA and there quest for the 737-300 and larger RJ'S all one has to look at is the amount of hubbing that occursin CLT between MESA flights. Get off one MESA RJ and get on another or get off a PDT Dash or PSA Dornier and then get on a MESA RJ. The hubs are no longer to feed the mainline. So as the Mainline MEC agrees to give more RJ's to MESA they will have it all before its over.
The first two ERJ-170's will be here no later than the 8th. You WILL see them in PIT soon. Training for pilots will resume no later than the 10th. Proving runs will begin soon after the aircraft arrive and revenue service will start as planned in April. No kidding, from the horses mouth.....
And yes, we are being quietly sold down the river. Doesn't look good for PSA. Also doesn't look like MAA will be getting 80 aircraft.
Best of luck to all. Good news is that the U.S. Postal service is hiring and starting pay is near MAA Captain guarantee.
Great..... Just what I didn't need to hear at this time...More Negitivity..........
I do wonder though.... What about the Loan for these Aircraft...Is that still in Jeapordy???? I keep getting excited about M/A only to have some sort of Negative information bring it back down.....
Hell.......... Guess I'll have to go back downstairs and make ANOTHER drink...Only thing that keeps me sane through all the B.S !!!!!
