I sent Dale Danker an email last week and he came by this afternoon to meet me and talk about some stuff. Let me just say that I was pleasantly surprised at his attitude and his opinions. He feels that we need to completely change the way we do things and I agree 100%. His attitude is that he was hired by the membership to serve them and that is what he wants to do. I had no idea who he was at first sight because he wasn't decked out in TWU apparel. He looked like what he is, an AMT. He realizes that things are really bad and is trying to change things. He is letting the company know we are not on board with the break and lunch whistles and is figuring out a policy on it. Management wants us to wait if we are in the middle of something but Danker realizes that the same people will see someone taking a break after the whistle to go back to work goes off and cry about it. I told him that we should honor them to the letter if management is pushing them so much. He also brought up the uniform issue and said he told AA that they would be responsible for laundering them and gave them a figure of how much that would cost them each month. It was a pretty big figure so AA is putting that on hold for now. They hadn't even made up their minds as to if they were going to be button down or tshirts. He talked about some other stuff too, but I was glad to get to talk to him. I feel like he will try to take care of the membership. Time will tell if they get to him or not. He'll have the international trying to sway him to be a yes man for the company. I hope he holds out. But please don't take this to mean I am now a TWU koolaid drinker. I will still support AMFA, as Mr. Videtich and Mr. Gless will still dictate to us with impunity.

Does he even understand that the problem of this profession is bigger than him, the local, and the TWU? The profession is divided and all AMT's need to unite into a single craft union. Danker and the TWU can't offer the global solution. I don't care how he looks or talks, he doesn't have the solution at his disposal from his current position. He is just another one of those that believes he can fix the profession from the desk of an Industrial Union Local President position. Will not and cannot happen.

I agree Informer. The TWU cannot be fixed. We need to get away from a union where the unelected leadership continues to sell us out with impunity. I will continue to support AMFA and will try to convince others when the time comes to vote in their favor. We are stuck with this contract until 2018 (and beyond I'm sure) so we must make sure AMFA is in place by that time. By then Tulsa will be much less populated and those that are left will, hopefully, realize that they have to make a move to save their careers.

Is he an AMT? Or is he an aircraft cleaner? Just wondering, since the last guy was from fleet service.

Danker is an AMT, he just happens to be one of those that doesn't grasp the magnitude of the problem, and believes that all it takes someone good in the Local 514 President's position. He, like the ones before him, are all wrong about the problem and the solution.

I see no problem with him running for local 12 president if he so chooses.
I see no problem with anyone running, but the problem still remains be it local 12 or local 514. The problem is much bigger than Tulsa, AA, or the local officers.
