MEC CODE-A-PHONE UPDATE
February 20, 2003
This is Roy Freundlich with a US Airways MEC update for Thursday, February 20, with two new items:
Item 1. The MEC reconvened its special meeting today in Arlington and continued receiving a pension issue update from the Negotiating and R&I committees in closed session The MEC also received a briefing on Jets for Jobs filling of vacancy issues from the Grievance and Negotiating committees and MEC officers in open session. The Company is administering the program in a manner that has not been agreed to by ALPA. This includes seniority, displacement, and preference selection issues. The matter is being addressed. Expect updates on this issue from the furlough administrator as information becomes available.
The MEC will attend tomorrow’s bankruptcy court hearing and then is expecting to reconvene the special meeting at the Key Bridge Marriott on Saturday morning, February 22.
Item 2. For those pilots flying to DCA to attend the hearing, transportation to the courthouse will be provided by your MEC. A shuttle bus will begin picking up pilots from Reagan National Airport at approximately 9 a.m. tomorrow morning, departing from the crewroom concourse area, lower level, baggage claim. The bus will shuttle between National Airport and the courthouse in Alexandria, Va., throughout the day, and will also provide transportation after the hearing to the airport. The MEC is recommending that pilots attending the hearing wear their uniform.
Please remember we have 1,827 pilots on furlough.
