Would the membership choose ALPA? The MDA contract is clearly a better contract, but what who isn't aware of ALPA's track record in regard to regional carriers.... Anyone remember what happened to CCAir when offered a 90 seat pay rate, DW wouldn't sign it. How about the MDA pilots themselves, we all know how great their representation with exception of maybe the grievance chair and a couple of LEC reps.

Common Dan, a little conversation on this subject could really help shed some light on the situation. It might also save both groups a great deal of trouble and frustration in the process.

To further compound the insult, AAA has halted contract negotiations with the company until the results of the arbitration are known. Though the MDA crews have been operating for more than two years with NO contract in hand, the MEC has seen fit to in complicity with the company, further delay negotiations....

I agree that discussion can only help. I am curious, is there a contract? If so, what is better in that contract? As this seems to move forward beyond anyone's control, information, such as what might be better in the MDA pilot contract, would be helpful to those of us at an RP company. If there is a contract in place, and if it is in fact better, we would all be better off knowing this. We have been told that you are working under the Eagle contract. I hope this is not so. Any improvements your contract can provide would be welcomed and supported.

There is not a finished contract..... However, the rules governing how MDA crews do business is a modified version of the Eagle contract to include some pay increases, and AAA scheduling provisions. In short, the pay and quality of life in regard to scheduling are better. The contract was supposed to be finished a long time ago, and ALPA should be working hard to hammer out the remaining items at this time, but decided in agreement with the company to delay finishing the contract until the findings of the arbitration are published. More of what the MDA pilots have come to expect from their union.....

That didn't answer my question at all. What are the scheduling provisions that make quality of life better? I know know some very senoir FAs over there and their QL is not nearly as good as mine much further down the list at a RP company. So, I hope that there are some very different provisions in the pilot contrat. I'm just looking to find out what they are. Also, what are the pay rates?

Sorry, I don't know what the F/A's would or would not bring.... I know the pilots would bring things line more days off and long call reserve.

We work under a modified Eagle contract with major portions of the mainline agreement (scheduling, scope, grievance and some others) taking precedence over the Eagle provisions. I would say our scheduling section for one is better than the REP one - we also have better vacation/sick benefits. We have a lot of flexibility in our scheduling - being able to drop and add trips well into the future and even up to the day before a trip goes out. Our reserve system leaves something to be desired and maybe the REP system is better.

I think the best thing would be if ALPA wins the grievance this would be a great opportunity for the IBT and ALPA to sit down and approach this like any other merger - take the two contracts and try to make the best out of them for a combined working agreement to cover all the pilots.

Probably 95% of the contract is complete in final language with a few sections left to be completed. It is the desire of the pilots to have had this completed a long time ago, but circumstances and the lack of committment on the company's part have led us to where we are now.

The flight attendants work under a different version of the Eagle agreement so therefore I am not aware of their scheduling provisions. I do know they can drop trips and trip trade but other than that I'm not sure.
