MD-80 Inspections

Ive just heard from people that work around you that you are so negative and that you would really like aa to fail

I don,t know who you have been talking too because the people who work around me think much the same way as I do.

Second you really don,t know much about me if you think my problem is with AA, What I want is to see the TWU removed from the property and replaced with a democratic union whoever that may be.

As for negative after years and years of givebacks and failed leadership what is their to be postive about oh yea
I SHOULD JUST BE GLAD TO HAVE A JOB! my bad.

hes always starting stuff so thought i would call him on it

Tell us what I have started and please don,t say AMFA because I did not start that Mr O.V.Delle-Femine started that at LGA in 1964.

We just started the inspections found 3 or 4 bad out of the first 27 aircraft so 10% sounds about right so far! What repair did you use our guys still have not let us in on what is required :D
We had one that required skin replacement, but most are on a short interval watch.

<_< -----MMB, Have you been doing the "Back lash" checks on your jack screw gimbals? This is the one that bet Alaska Air in the tail feathers!
We're looking at those under two operations at intervals of 650 hours and 2000 hours.

<_< ---- MMB, Have them check the jackscrew itself for "wobble". Run the horizontal stab up, and see if it runs true. Last one I was involved with, we couldn't come with any limits. Not even from the manfacture, so we ended up replacing a few!

Rumor I hear is that AA already has 10 MD-80's out of service due to this inspection and since the AD allows through June for completion, AA is going to delay inspections a little while so they don't end up with too many aircraft out of service while waiting for a fix.

Don't know how factual this is, but that is the rumor on the floor.

<_< --- I've heard AA is eye balling the 24 exTWA MD80's in the desert for possible replacements "if needed, and check out O.K.!" Or for possible replacement parts! Now that would be ironic! TWA to the rescue again!!!--- ;)

They are removing tails from parked TWA/AA birds for spares.

It is my understanding the A.D. requires inspection and repair by 6/19/2007 or the plane is grounded. also that boeing has a repair but has not blessed it yet. all of this is hear say.

With the cost of fuel on the rise again, AA might be better off doing some selective surgery on the schedule and grounding more MD80's, rather than cannibalize for parts off already grounded aircraft, regardless if they're ex-TW or original AA....

Correction -
We had 4 that required skin replacement and the rest are on watch.
Repair - remove stabilizer, replace skin, reinstall stabilizer.
