Business fares used to be a lot more expensive before DP rationalized them industry wide. If your going to bang on him for everything you need to give him credit too. He revolutionized the business fare structure by elimination of the SAT night stay and 3 day minimums, and reducing all One Ways to no more than $399. Now I realize lately those prices have gone up but you elites have benefited greatly the last 7 years because of Doug Parker!

Pardon me for asking, but isn't WN the one who really started this whole concept? Everyone else is just a copycat. GoFares were brought out in response to WN coming to PHL, aka US holy turf and cheesesteak emporium. GoFares did so well, CCY attempted to do it in other markets, particularly the PA and mid-Atlantic markets. Then the feces hit the rotating blades for CCY... and we all know how that ended up.

Let's first debunk the myth that HP was ever a LCC. Below are the CASM numbers as compiled by the Airline Data Project. which is run by some little community College name of Mass Institute of Technology or commonly referred to as MIT.You might have heard of it

Given the above how can anyone call US a LCC when costs have risen steadily?

US's revenues were also signifcantly higher as well. If you break the numbers out US Airways was well positioned on a cost basis to compete after 2 BK's. What they were NOT was properly capitalized and thanks to Bruce Lakefield a merger got done. DP is 0 for 2 in pulling off mergers by himself. Lakefield could barely spell airplane however he could spell M-ON-E-Y and that's what HP allowed them access to. Look at the SEC filings and annual reports and see which side of the operation the profit came from in '06 & '07.I'll give you a hint it wasn't in the sun drenched land of cactii. Like it or don't your management team can't play in the big leagues. Everything to date points to a bush league operation. All you have to do to prove this is to tear doen CO's annual reports and you'll see how a real airline operates.

In 2005 CO generated $203,000 in sales per employee versus $167,000 for HP. You keep looking and the numbers speak for themselves.

So we will revert back of doing business as the old US Air model? Just shut down all the West Coast? Will this solve the money problem Piney? SO Hp brought only prospect and hope of success to the new airline? I am not a kool-aid drinker, but dont' see logic in West being the only failure in this ballgame. I see the reasoning for shrinking LAS, but I believe PHX does have benefits that make this airline succeed. Maybe someone should question DP in the next town hall meeting, and ask him why we still fly in and out of PHX, and not just shut it down!! There are more reasons than just living here that is appealing to the business model. I believe United merger would of proved true, seeing as the DEN base will be making drastic cuts in the next two years. I am not an expert, just sick of people on this board tearing down the West Coast operation as weak, and brings nothing to this Airline. Without competition and an West Coast base, this airline has no REACH or FUTURE. B)
 
And before some of you try to bash, I know HP is running the show. I don't agree with the mess DP and Kirby have made, or condone it. Hopefully they have learned from there mistakes this time around. :( I for one want this place to stay in business. We will see how this all plays out, and hopefully the pilots and fa's will see a fair contract soon! :)
