So I hear the director of aircraft maintenance is the same person that was at northwest when the were sadly locked out here it come aa is next

What's your point?

There are at least 4 former NW people that are now VP's at US (at least as of now, anyway). The current VP of maintenance lists NW on his bio, but I don't remember him being one of the key players during the lockout.

I think I remember reading some info that supports the claim of this guy being in charge of NWA Maint at that time, however Im going to research it more.

As far as AA being next, I dont think so. NWA had the luck of timing on that deal, there were a lot of layoffs that helped them recruit. Also, I dont see AA AMT's standing idle if they start hiring and packing hotels. It would be over before it started..

AA is having a hard time finding replacements for the people who put in for early Outs and Stand in Stead.

I agree this isn't 2005 when there were thousands of laid off aircraft mechanics out there anymore. If the FAA were to impose duty time limits like they have with pilots on mechanics hundreds if not thousands of flights would be cancelled. There simply is no supply out there. The captains of this industry were very successful at destroying this as a profession, over half the schools closed and the few that do attend are finding that other industries think a lot more of their abilities than the idiots that run the airlines do. I also find it humorous when these IBT fear mongers talk about how the company may outsource all of maint. Really? To whom? Most of the MRO providers up here are staffed by Mechanics from AA and other carriers who Moonlight. By working two separate jobs in Aviation they can skirt the very weak Duty Time regs that are in place because there is no mechanism in place to track those hours, if all our work went to them they would no longer be able to hide their true duty times. Look at what happened in AFW, few bumped the system, most chose to leave the industry entirely and AA has been trying to hire from carriers like American Eagle ever since. Most are no longer willing to follow the work in order to keep a job where pay and benefits have deteriorated so much, if they closed Tulsa all that would do is permanently remove thousands more A&Ps from an already short supply. Look at how AAR is having trouble staffing Indianapolis even though its the same facility that once employed thousands of United Airlines mechanics. AAR and other Overhaul facilities are constantly quoted in trade magazines complaining that they cant get people, that they cant pay what the airlines pay, now that airline pay has declined so much fewer and fewer are willing to work at the even lower MRO wages in hopes of getting experience so they can get an airline job and the many thousands that were laid off after 9-11 and then some have permanently left Aviation. Sure some of the OH work could be shipped overseas but it would take time, the Fear mongers seem to not read as there was recently a story about a Chinese OH facility that had to turn away work because they could not get enough mechanics in China. If those facilities cant handle the work they already have what makes those guys think that there is all this extra capacity that will line up with AA';s schedule to do AA work? Its sad how they aren't even on the property yet they are already resorting to the same tactics we have been exposed from TeAAm Videtich et al.
