I think AA smells blood with both U and DL out of LGA. They seem to be testing the waters with both the new CLT and ATL flights out of LGA.
That said, I've been a regular flyer over the past couple of years on their AE shuttle from LGA-DCA. It seems the past six months or so their reliability on this run has really deteriorated. I'm not exaggerating in saying that 1 out of every 2 times I've flown it over the past six months there have been non-weather related delays or cancellations based on mechanicals or just late-running planes in the system. I realize ATC in the northeast often holds things up and that is obviously beyond the control of AA. But ----- with the increasing unreliability of the AE shuttle, it gets more and more difficult to fly them when there are better alternatives. (My latest trip ----- yesterday down to DC and today back to NY ----- saw my outbound delayed for about 90 minutes getting down to DC. Today my 5:00 cancelled altogether and the next LGA - AE flight was at 7:00. So --- they put me on a U shuttle at 5:00). In their defense, AA always handles the delays and cancellations professionally and are very helpful but ------ one still would prefer to have more reliability on the route ------ particularly given the nature of a shuttle.
Any of you AA'ers know if there is some sort of functional problem of late? I'd be interested to know.
