Are you a temporary employee with no guarantee numbers of hours, pay, vacation, sick leave or heath insurance Delta has a lot of that going on

I used to know plenty there until they were decimated after NWA took aim at the IAM after they were done with the Mechanics and F/A's. Most have all quit and moved on to better careers.

Part time, low pay, dealing with a public who wants everything for nothing...what is not to like about a job like that. At least you will have flight benefits....if you could only afford to do anything once you got there. You will love that part where you get to your destination, only to get stuck there for days, trying to catch a flight home as a non-rev.

Sorry to be so down, but that is what it had become back in 2005 when I left.

Welcome to the new airline working world!

Pay no mind to the negative posters here. Life has left them soured.

Like any job, it is what you make it. Enjoy it!

my personal opinion is simply the only person(s) who can accurately answer this question would be a DL employee who is familiar with the job classification...CSA.

The poster's moniker is DeltaDetroit, so I assumed that the position is a CSA in DTW. Delta had very few CSA's in DTW prior to the NWA merger.

Therefore, that would be an NWA DTW job wearing a Delta uniform. I spent some years working the gates in DTW (albeit as a Lead Tech). I have many friends who were NWA CSA's. I have a couple who still work there. Like I said, most left after the last IAM concessionary/bankruptcy contract.

I look forward to hearing from any NWA CSA that might still work in DTW about how they like the position. My 2 cents is just that.

You are correct in your post that any job is what you make it. Nobody is forcing anyone to take that job.

I worked the ticket counter for 2 years, so yes I know exactly how it goes. However, you couldn't pay me enough to work the gate.

that obviously has changed going forward!

and they look very nice in the uniform too..

the same for InFlight to a degree, as some left when the negotiated buyout was made available when TA3 was ratified.. as well as the other buyout programs that were initiated afterwards.

are you referring to the buyouts?

my general impression as I travel in and out of DTW is simply, the CSA seem pleasant or at least they appear that way to me...in a very good way. a change for the better in 2009.

I did not make that comment, but I do agree with the idea. as I personally feel attitude sometimes can help in any situation.
