Some might do this because there is far less chance of having the "birth mother" show up when the kid is 17 and try to re-establish the bond.

What's to stop the 17 year old from going over there looking for his/her roots? It's a double edged sword.
Some may do that for the reason you cite but it's mostly because it's far more difficult to adopt a child in the U.S. than it is in countries overseas.

I do not know if god exists and I do not care one way or the other.

Its been often said 'there are no Atheists in foxholes' and your no different though you would like to believe it. you claim to be an Agnostic which basically affirms you have no knowledge of GOD.

I ask if you are Agnostic Theists, or Agnostic Atheists? because there is a difference.

You will 'Care' one day when laying in your death bed with the lonliness of leaving this world alone, with no assurance of ever seeing your loved ones again. You can pretend to be as bold as you like but being acquainted with Death thru hospice Ive seen many Agnostics/Athesits come to know the Lord Jesus Christ.

Possible but not likely.

When I was quite a bit younger I was held up at gun point by two very antsy edgy punks. I had one gun leveled at me across the roof of my car and the other gun was pressed against my temple. I did not have what they wanted and I had no way of obtaining that for them. The possibility of them pulling the trigger was very real or at least that was my perception at the time. I can recall every thought that went through my mind both during and after the incident. Funny thing is, god was not one of them. Another thing I found odd at the time and I still am some perplexed about is that I was not scared of dieing. I recall being pissed off about the idea, but not scared.

As I believe I mentioned somewhere else. My wife’s parents are survivors of the holocaust. They have lived through the absolute worst that man kind has to offer. They saw friends and family cut down in the prime of life by some of the worst animals this world has ever seen. They did not know from day to day if they would be alive or dead. They were in that hell every day of every year for over 5 years. They did not and do not believe in god either. They would have loved to be in a fox hole.

Some folks do not receive comfort in believing there is some supreme being. It is inconsequential to us. I came into this world alone, and I have no fear of going out alone. I have no worries. I know I will not see anyone again once I am dead. That is the idea after all. I never had the pleasure of meeting my grand fathers and my grand mothers have long since passed away. I will never get to know them. While unfortunate, as far as I am concerned, it is just the way it is. Nothing more, nothing less. I am here for a few years and then ….. poof, I’m gone. The world will continue to spin on it’s axis, the sun will rise and set (at least for a few billion years) and the circle of life will continue.

To swing this back on topic - let's let the Agnostics and Athiests come to know Jesus on their deathbed...but let's not do it by legislating OUR morality on the them.

I would assume that one example of their "lack of morality" being "shoved down your throat" is when two men go before a justice of the peace to have a civil union created...am I warm? Just one question...unless you frequent your local courthouse, how is that "shoving it down your throat"? Actually...if we followed the true conservative route of limiting government's role in our private lives, we'd never even know it was happening. But when the other side attempts to legislate morality and FORCES it to take front and center on a ballot - who's forcing what down whose throat?

The spirit of God can only manifest himself through the goodness that is shown by mankind. Evil can only manifest itself from mankind.

In every situation in history where evil or goodness reined, it was committed through man, not the elements of nature that spare no one. I have found no goodness in your tone or posting, only citing what is biblical as anyone with a computer can cite. You do not reveal YOUR christianity or godliness that you attempt to convey, or the pureness of goodness that GOD is, in your posts; only what is cited in the old testament through passages.

You represent the ultimate guilts of man in your posts in a desparate reach to cleanse your OWN soul and spirit.

Depending on the circumstances of my death and the condition of my remains, I have already specified that my organs be donated. What ever is left will be cremated and that as they say will be that. I have no fear of death. I have no need to believe that life is anything more than what it is. We are a single species among millions on this planet. We inhabit a single rock, orbiting a solitary star in a galaxy with billions of stars. There is an unknown number of other planets which statistically at least a few will harbor some sort of life, perhaps even far more advanced life. No one knows how many other galaxies out there and it goes on and on. We are hic-cup in time. When earth fades away it will in all likely hood, not be missed.

Mans insecurity, vanity and fear of the unknown has always intrigued me. We have no idea what lies beyond. It seems that for some to be able to get through life, they need to know that there is a reward at the end. It seems like a waste of time to me but if it makes someone comfortable, who am I to complain.

As for depravity. Someone like Haggard who condemns others while committing the same acts, that pisses me off. People sticking their nose into my personal life and presuming to tell me what I may or may not do, trying to use fear of eternal damnation to get me to believe in their god, that pisses me off. Bearing witness to the bigotry, hatred, hypocrisy in this country and throughout the world pisses me off. To be lectured by some snot nosed little twerp like you pisses me off.

The good part about all this is that I am not allowed to ban you from being a snot nosed twerp, Haggard for being a hypocritical nut case, people for hating what they know nothing about. The constitution allows you and everyone else to do with their life as they choose as long as those actions do not infringe upon someone elses rights.
