That might work for AMR and UAL, but it doesn't explain why Jetblue sucked so much, and why US Airways did so much better. They're beyond angry, especially the pilots...

The airline, and indeed, the entire US airline system has no governmental leadership and incompetent company management. That's why things are the way they are.

I think alot has to do with the fact that AA's areas of concentration include places of notorious ATC or OSO... DFW-Storms MIA-Storms ORD-Storms/ATC NYC-Storms/ATC... Huge airports and airspace probably make up 75% of our operation.

Frontier...DEN...not to bad except in winter...WN---no hub..not really a vast percentage of flights in any one area...US...PHX/LAS- What OSO?...CLT...Minimal.. Alaska-West Coast....Spirit-FLL..storms dont affect it like MIA...

There you have it.

So much for being the On-Time Machine. As they use to claim in the 1980's.

American is the On-Time Machine.

Ah... those were the days until I had better luck connecting through ORD than DFW with ontime flights.

Speaking of which, has the TWU gone work to rule? I've been on planes where they were doing maintenance at DFW and as soon as the shift changes at 2:30pm they walk away with screws half drilled in or half taken out, or the cleaners have stopped cleaning as soon as the shift change leaving the rest of the plane dirty...

we HAVE cleaners??????

all I've seen are dirty planes, lavs stinking to high heavens, wet carpets, etc.
and all these on the very first flight out of base too.

when I do see cleaners on the rare ocassion, it consists of a team of 4 people: 1 person folding the blankets, 1 person picking the trash up and "cleaning" the lavs by spraying deodorizer (if he has some), and 2 CS supervisors on their cellphone or walkie-talkie screaming to the 2 others "You have 2 minutes to finish up so we can start boarding!"

Exactly!!

We're no longer angry..just numb!

Guess it's a system wide thing, huh?

My vote for the worst on time performance of ANY flight.........Barcelona. 7pm departure my A**. That flight leaves late 6 out of 7 days a week. You'd think AA would try to figure out what they could do to make it more punctual. If they don't, I can see this route being discontinued in the future. It is absolutely PLAGUED by delays and stupid issues involving maintenance problems. Even when you have people on board on time you can't get off the gate. STU-PID. I love the layover......when we actually have one. It's a little tiresome to suit up and not make it to where you are going or not make it there until 2-3 hours of delays with people on board. Losing your trip backed up to that trip isn't too much fun either.

As for the cleaners in BCN; hahahahaha. They are currently on strike Mondays,Wednesdays, and Fridays. Management there is cleaning the planes on those days with some management help coming in from Madrid. (Lord help us)

This company just doesn't get it...Employee morale is as detrimental to the company as high fuel prices..The whole mantra of we all have to pull together to survive just doesn't cut it anymore...
layoffs and capacity reduction and aircraft groundings are inevitable and unfortunate. This is the path this company should've taken BEFORE they decided to rape us!

Had they gone this route in the first place, they would only be dealing with high fuel prices and not low employee morale and apathy.
