Well, it is July 2, 2004 and I am still waiting for Jim Little to teach AA a lesson for not sharing in the sacrifice.

RE: Shared Sacrifice

Dear Jim:

I am in receipt and have reviewed the draft Powerpoint you forwarded on Management restructuring. The information provided is clearly not comparative – only descriptive. In order to do a meaningful comparison, we would need before and after actuals for average wages and benefits including five-year totals as presented for Management. Most useful would be 1Q03 and 1Q04 payroll breakdowns by group (TWU by workgroup and Management). If possible, by Maintenance Management, Ramp Management, SOC Management, Stores Management, etc. This way we could see what actually happened in black and white.

Here are some other thoughts on the draft Powerpoint:

There are more slides on headcount reductions over five years (slide six) than on compensation (slide five). How many TWU members were reduced since 2000 with no value credited to the TWU?

How do the headcount reductions - Management and TWU – pre-concessions to post- concessions look side-by-side?

Is the management headcount reduction even meaningful as a cost savings “creditâ€￾ when the TWU did not receive credit for non-contractual reduction (i.e. attrition or retirement)?

What time period did the $100 million in concessions ($33 million of which was headcount) fall into, what percentage of Management payroll was this, and how does this compare to TWU percent of payroll?

Slide eight states that “since June 2001, AA Management has been reduced by 30.3 percent,â€￾ but this is largely due to TWA, with loss of redundant management positions. From December 2001, the number is 15.3 percent and about 8 percent since December 2001 (AA hired Management between 2001-2002).

Variable compensation is included as pay (stock awards and bonuses) that would not have been earned anyway based on performance.

What would a side-by-side of a TWU AMT, FSC, etc. look like before and after compared to Management numbers?
I will let you know if anything else comes to mind.

Sincerely,

Same old rhethoric!

Don't you think Little and the boys would have looked into management's shared sacrifice a year and half ago when the TWU bent us over?
