A JetBlue plane returned to the Palm Beach International Airport shortly after take off after losing a 4-foot piece of an engine cowling, similar to the hood of a car engine.

About 18 minutes into the flight, the JetBlue pilot felt the plane vibrate and radioed the airport to inform it was heading back, PBIA spokeswoman Lisa De La Rionda said.

JetBlue brought an airplane from Fort Lauderdale to take the passengers to New York Sunday morning.

Each customer will receive within 36 hours a JetBlue voucher equal to the cost of the round-trip, Dervin said

I wonder who ended up with a piece of airplane in their yard. Ryanair did the same thing when wet-leasing to FL in their West Coast runs. Maybe its a Mx nightmare or forgetfulness..... or perhaps, the great Airbus just proves again, garbage can fly.

I saw the Bird today when I arrived in PBI. My Mx vendor said at least 2 more weeks. Apparently, Airbus isn't helping matters either. Imagine that!!!

The B6 aircraft left PBI on the afternoon of Friday April 6th...not sure if it was just a maintenance ferry to base and it is still out or if it is back in revenue service now...
