Hey Jimmy, Billy,Edgar or whoever, this is The USA any you could be president some day. Hey Bobby, Stewy,Eddie if you work hard you may be a Olympic gold metal winner. Hey Robbie,Stevie,Joey with hard work you can be in the NFL,WWE,MLB. These statements hold a slight percentage of truth but in reality these dreams will not come true for most. The card drive is done no use blaming this group or that overhaul or line. The reason there was no vote for the association was to seal our fate. If there was a drive the IAM will tell their members their pension scam is gone. TWU will tell the bases their jobs are gone. Forget title two they hardly signed cards before much less now after the pay bump. Automotive forget about it. Facilities not before and not now. So it is what it is that was the design of the association. There are other obstacles but I believe I made my point. So let's keep arguing stupid stuff like line vs overhaul etc. we as a collective group are morons. Peace out, now let er fly.........

Amazing how we as one are skilled, educated and smart enough to make everyday decisions. But as a group it's like we all ride the short bus to work.

^^^^^^^^ This x 1000
But, I would submit, what does it take to correct it and is it even possible?

I for one think not. Simply because most of us are A type personalities and independent thinkers. Group thought doesnt appeal to us.

Your anti-union sentiment displays your ignorance of Unionism. Where will you look for support when we see a downturn in this industry's natural cycle and your employer looks to pillage again? Another group who qualifies to your profile you indicated of mechanics are pilots. Even they are wise enough to not abandon what a Union can provide at Delta, eh?

Hey buddy, the US mechanics would do us all good to get their heads out of their asses on this IAMNPF issue. Prior to 2006 you will receive a retirement check from the PBGC and even though you've only entered the IAMNPF in 2008, a fact that many still don't realize, legislation protects you once vested. Meaning you will receive a separate check from them at retirement. Don't get suckered by the IAM fear campaign that leaving their union requires your loss of pension. Also, options for retirement are our choice. Even AMFA has the ability to be in a pension plan in their Constitution if members support that idea. Too many on the US side have given up. Those that have should be ashamed to call themselves Aircraft Mechanics.

I agree but it is up to them to make that decision, and it is up to the LAA guys to fight like hell to keep
it out!

It's the IGM mentality?

I think IGM denotes selfishness, which there is, but also there is the psychology of independent thought which in my opinion the unions haven't figured out how to harness and motivate a large group like aircraft mechanics to work in a single unified direction for a purpose.  Instead, most unions leadership are  absorbed with IGM and that's not to say some may have good intentions to do better for the membership, in particular low level reps,  but for the most part a sense of improving ones self worth or positioning is the underlying motivation, especially higher level representatives. IMO

Just heard the  usAIR 757 is going to DWH. I am hearing the Tulsa folks do not want to play nice with management so they are moving it to DWH. the employees there are less confrontational and do all the company wants and more.

I think management likes to make people believe they move work for punitive reasons, but in reality the moves are for profit reasons.

When they decided to originally bring that work in the MD80 was leaving, now
that AA will fly the MD80 a few more years Tulsa needs to keep working on them
and they no longer have the workforce to handle a new line.

Nope. Per the LOA base maintenance is excluded from the cross utilization.
