Investors call for investigation into whether NWA plans mergerThursday March 1, 4:13 pm ET
A group of Northwest Airlines Corp. investors, led by hedge fund Owl Creek Asset Management, has dropped its request to create a committee that would represent shareholders, according to a Dow Jones news report.
Instead, the group is now asking the court to investigate if the Eagan-based carrier is "contemplating a merger or other transaction," according to the report, which cites bankruptcy filings.
The investigation would consider whether Northwest (Pink Sheets: NWACQ - News) would pursue a merger after it emerges from Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, which is expected to happen later this year.
