way to go Dave...38.975% of Stock taken to pay taxes. We will probably pay more in taxes than we will realize in the sale of our stock. BOHICA

hmm, not sure how you come up with 38pct..when I lose 74 shares for taxes and NET receive 38 shares out of an allotted 112, I calculate 66 percent taxation.. I am assuming the way the letter is worded that each allotment will be taxed individually and separately. Crooks!

I got my stock letter today and my first allotment (out of three) is 178 shares. They are taking 138 shares for taxes? 76% !!!!!. What the hell. I also agree that the letter reads that we will be taxed again on the other two disbursments. Another question. If you read the article about U.S. Airs stock on the main page;

"In July, the airline allocated 25 percent of its common stock to its unions, who will distribute it to union members. This month, according to filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission, the airline has:

Reached agreement with two private investment groups that will buy 5 million shares of stock for approximately $37 million.

Airline spokesman Chris Chiames said the deal will relieve employees' tax liability. In effect, the firms are buying stock with money that will pay the taxes on employee stock grants. The firms bought the stock at $7.24 per share and expect it will appreciate, Chiames said.
"

So what is going on here?? Can someone explain this to me??

Something else I forgot was if/when you go to cash these in, won't there be another tax on your federal return to account for this income? Of course there will. The madness never ends. I even received in the mail today an entire booklet on my health benefits. What a waste of postage. Guess what Davey? I don't have med coverage with U anymore..duh!

 I see mask men running in and stealing all the money but nobody cares
somebody please explain it to me..........my calculator isn't working.......

any idea who will pay the Taxes on Dave and his merry band of thieves stock when they vest. Who do you think? ;)

Folks,

Now don't start laughing but got my stock notice today...received TWO distributions total 90 shares minus the tax = Ready? 58 vested BIG ONES!

Yes siree I'm excited now as a "stake holder"... I feel BIG on campus here...Y-E-S!

YOU THINK BRONNER FEELS LIKE ME?

32 shares WERE WITHHELD. Let's see, hmmmmmm how will I spend these????

Make a car payment??? Hmmm, catch up on my medical deductables?? hmmmm yea, yea, groceries. Thats it, groceries.

Excuse me, going to go call Dave now to see how he will spend his when he cashes in. I am sure he needs to catch up with his bills.

I furthermore do not understand the disparities in individual's withholding. E.G. 32 withheld out of 90 is a far cry, ratio wise, from 75 withheld from 112. Somebody is using wacko math here.

Severed,

Look at the notice again...It may read 112 shares and 37 witheld and 75 vested shares.

I think some of your letters have been miscalculated, I vested 208 shares this issue and they only took 29 shares out for taxes.

I have talked to several people at work who had the wrong calculations, so you need to call and check. You had to read yours twice remember?
