Independence Airline Assets

Just curious if anyone knows who has bought or leases FLYI airplanes/gates? I know UAL had put in to buy some of their assets a couple of weeks ago but no word!

There was an article in the WSJ today about UA bidding for the A gates.

http://online.wsj.com/article/BT-CO...74.html?mod=air (subscription required).

In court papers filed Wednesday, FLYi said United, a unit of UAL Corp. (UALAQ), has agreed to buy its rights to use the Dulles, Va., airport for $4.3 million, subject to higher offers at auction....

United's purchase of the Dulles lease would give the Chicago-based airline use of Independence Air's 35 gates in the airport's A concourse....the defunct carrier will transfer leased locations outside the A concourse back to the Metropolitan Washington Airport Authority, which controls the Dulles airport.

The lease sale, however, isn't a done deal. Bankruptcy law requires FLYi to seek out the highest offer for the lease and conduct an auction if other bidders come forward.

The deadline for would-be purchasers to submit competing offers is Monday. FLYi said it will hold an auction Tuesday if it gets other offers. The U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Wilmington, Del., is slated to consider approval of the deal at a Wednesday hearing.

According to court papers, United, based in Elk Grove, Ill., could get a breakup fee of up to $200,000 if it isn't the winning bidder.

On a.net there is some pictures of the Flyi aircraft now in storage.... the A319s in Louisiana and the RJs in California, I think.
